Wen Qing removed the needle from Wei Wuxian and left the room. As she was walking back to her room, she saw Jiang Cheng under a cherry tree and said:
"You are here."
Jiang Cheng looked at her and spoke:
"How valuable I am, I am carrying a golden core that isn't mine, living a life I don't deserve."
Wen Qing:
"Wanyin."
Jiang Cheng:
"What?"
Wen Qing:
"You are pushing Wei Wuxian away. I am coming from his room, he is exhausted."
Jiang Cheng:
"How exhausted?"
Wen Qing:
"If his body wasn't robust, he would have been dead by now."
Jiang Cheng:
"What do you want me to do?"
Wen Qing:
"Let him go."
Jiang Cheng:
"Why?"
Wen Qing:
"Because you are hurting him and yourself."
Jiang Cheng felt like he was under the pouring rain without an umbrella, he said:
"No wonder why dad kept praising him when he was alive, 'attempt the impossible' that is the definition of Wei Wuxian's life."
Wen Qing:
"Wanyin, let him go."
Jiang Cheng:
"What do you mean?"
Wen Qing:
"He didn't abandon you, but it looks like you abandoned him long ago, when was it?"
Jiang Cheng reached for Wen Qing's hand, Wen Qing slapped his hand and continued:
"Wanyin, answer me, you abandoned Wei Wuxian when he saved my people, didn't you? You broke that bond, Wei Wuxian saw that you broke it and he was willing to let it go too. I stopped you, and made you realize how strong you are as a sect leader, so after the battle at Lotus Pier, your status is even stronger. Wei Wuxian knew the bond between you two was damaged, so he has been exhausting himself to keep that bond up. Wanyin, if you are unwilling to fix that bond, let it go because that bond isn't something that Wei Wuxian can fix by himself."
Two days later, they were ready to set off to Yunmeng again. At least some of them were going back to Yunmeng. Wen Qing was determined to go back to Yiling, to Dafan mountain if she needed to save Wei Wuxian, so they split. Jiang Cheng, Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan were going back to Yunmeng while Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, Wen Qing and Wen Ning were going back to Yiling. Wen Qing jabbed Wei Wuxian with a needle to sedate him, she also requested Jiang Cheng to send Grandma, Uncle Four and A-Yuan to Yiling.
The Yiling group arrived in Yiling after four days of journey by river. Lan Wangji was carrying Wei Wuxian as they left the boat. They took a chariot to Wen Qing's old residency. Once they arrived, Wen Qing got off and looked at it, the residency was indeed still intact. Wen Ning got off the chariot as well and kept the veil open so Lan Wangji could get off with Wei Wuxian. Lan Wangji got off with Wei Wuxian, he was carrying Wei Wuxian, he said:
"Wen Qing."
Wen Qing:
"Let's enter."
Wen Qing unlocked the door and she led them to a room, she said:
