Chapter 3: Decision

Two brothers went down the mountain to set the Lotus Barrier. Uncle Four was given the task to watch over Wen Qing and Wen Ning. Wei Wuxian looked at him:

"Why sudden change now?"

Jiang Cheng looked at him:

"I love Wen Qing, it has nothing to do with her leading me to Dafan Mountain or saving our lives."

Wei Wuxian looked at him:

"How so?"

Jiang Cheng said:

"Gusu. I... heard her wish. I gave the comb to her in Yiling."

Wei Wuxian nodded, they reached to the place where the old barrier was, he said:

"It will confine us, we only have food and water that can last for a week and we have to keep foraging."

Jiang Cheng looked at him:

"Yunmeng Jiang people aren't weak, we can endure hardships."

Wei Wuxian smiled:

"I know, Jiang Cheng, no matter what, you are my brother and shijie is my shijie, nothing will change this, not even death."

Jiang Cheng nodded:

"Now, how do we set the barrier?"

Wei Wuxian started drawing the incantation on his palm and showed it to Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng also drew the same incantation. They then put their hands together, sending a purple beam up the sky, despite the fact that Burial Mounds was dark and full of resentful energy, the purple beam tore it apart, the ward wrapped the area, trapping them inside and trapping the outsiders outside. As the barrier is set, Wei Wuxian started having a nosebleed, Jiang Cheng looked at him:

"Wei Wuxian! We did it!"

He then noticed the blood:

"Wei Wuxian, what is wrong?"

Wei Wuxian looked at him, closed his eyes and collapsed. Jiang Cheng caught him and checked if he was breathing:

"Wei Wuxian! Wei Wuxian, wake up! Wei Wuxian?!"

He was concerned, he took Wei Wuxian on his back and carried him up the mountain, his clothes had some blood from Wei Wuxian, he entered where Wen Qing was sleeping, he saw that she woke up:

"Wen Qing."

Wen Qing saw Wei Wuxian and said:

"Put him on the bed, hold him up."

He put Wei Wuxian on the bed and made him lean on his chest, then asked:

"Wen Qing what is going on?"

Wen Qing checked Wei Wuxian, touched an acupoint to stop the nosebleed then she jabbed Wei Wuxian with her sedative needle as well as hitting his forehead to make sure he was fully sedated. Jiang Cheng looked at her:

"Why did you do it?"

Wen Qing looked at him with anger and said:

"Lay him down, I will be the one to say the truth or else this brat will postpone the inevitable forever."

Jiang Cheng laid Wei Wuxian on the bed and stood up, looked at Wen Qing:

"What is this truth that can save all?"

She said:

"He forced his spiritual power so much, didn't he? He gets exhausted quickly, his spiritual power always feels low. If it weren't for the fact that he has a strong body, he would have been dead by now. Jiang Wanyin, do you know how you got your golden core back?"
