THIRTY NINE

Trent couldn't seem to focus on Hendo's words of encouragement no matter how hard he tried, his mind just seemed to cloud over and all he could hear was his heart pumping loudly against his chest

Tonight was the biggest night of his life and after the disappointment of last season he wanted nothing more than to lift the trophy tonight but he knew it wouldn't be an easy task

Hendo let them leave the dressing room and Trent went to have some water before the teams had to head onto the pitch. When they did they lined up and the Champions League anthem played loudly around the Metropolitano stadium and he looked up into the stands

In the VIP box he could see his parents, his brothers and his girlfriend all sporting his shirt and the sight made his heart leap and a smile crossed onto his face. Ella could read the nervousness in Trent's eyes and she blew him a kiss which made him grin and he pretended to catch it and place it on his heart

"Cheesy little shit," Marcel laughed and the family, including Ella, all joined in and from the pitch even though Trent couldn't hear what they were laughing about the sight of his girlfriend with them made his smile grow even wider

Ella wasn't even playing and her heart was in her throat as the kick off whistle blew, she knew Trent wanted this and she wanted this for him

Liverpool looked lucky as in the 2nd minute they were awarded a penalty for a handball by Danny Rose, but even though Trent wasn't taking it the nerves he felt were immense and he looked up at the box again

His girlfriend smiled back down at him and he felt his heart rate slow down as the nerves began to disappear

"In the crowd tonight we can see Ella Beckham who is dating Trent Alexander-Arnold and after she won her first European trophy 3 days ago for Chelsea, I'm sure Trent is anxious to get his first European trophy as well,"

Trent watched with his heart in this throat as Salah took the penalty and the moment the ball hit the back of the net the atmosphere changed completely

The Liverpool fans were brought to their feet cheering and Trent felt as though his dream was finally within reach. As his team cheered Trent looked up at his family who were stood clapping and Ella blew him a kiss which made him smile even more

The momentum of Liverpool continued well into the game and both sides had many more chances but despite Liverpool's 1-0 lead, Ella knew the team couldn't be certain of the win until the final whistle went

Ella watched her boyfriend with pride as he played, she could see how he was putting all of his effort and heart into the match and she knew how badly he wanted this win 

Tottenham were giving it their all too and that made Ella nervous because with only a 1-0 lead the win wasn't sealed yet

But as the final 5 minutes of the game arrived everyone already knew Liverpool had won and Ella could see the excitement building up inside Trent as he began bouncing on his feet and glancing at the clock every few moments

And then their moment of glory was sealed when Origi scored and the whistle blew only 4 minutes later, crowning Liverpool the Champions League Winners

Ella and Trent's family made their way down to the pitch and when they got there Trent had his face in his shirt as he tried to cover his tears of joy from the cameras that were on the pitch. He looked up from his shirt and scanned the pitch until his eyes settled on Ella who was watching him with a massive smile on her face

Seeing his family watching him with pride made the win feel so much more real and the emotions overcame him again

Ella laughed and walked over to her boyfriend, Trent shook his head in disbelief as she wrapped her arms around his torso so he could bury his face into her hair and let his tears fall

"I'm so proud of you," Ella whispered "You were amazing and I'm so so proud, I love you,"

"I can't believe it," He sniffed "I never imagined this would happen,"

"It did, bubs," Ella said "It's real,"

"This is insane," He mumbled "Thank you so so much for everything, I wouldn't be here without you,"

"It was all you, you did all of it and I love you," She smiled up at him

"I love you too," Trent said and kissed her softly before they broke apart and he went to hug the rest of his family.

Ella and Trent's family soon had to go back to the side of the pitch as the Liverpool players went up to receive their medals and the Champions League trophy. Watching Trent raise the trophy over his head made Ella's heart swell with pride.

"Thank you," Dianne nudged the young girl next to her

"For what?" Ella asked her

"Motivating Trent every day, he smiles a lot more and enjoys himself more when he plays because of you," She said

Dianne looked at Ella like a daughter and she truly couldn't ask for anyone else for her son to want to spend the rest of his life with since Ella was completely perfect for Trent
