ruined castles

we built our castles so high,
that we forgot,
once you go up,
the only way is
down.

and between the rubble and debris,
lay our splintered hearts,
which still dared to thrash and beat.

our poisoned hearts,
which had only known the taste of honey coated lies,
dared to stay alive in our necrosed body.

our saccharine dipped lies,
shrouded the cracks in our seemingly perfect castle,
and now here we stand amidst ruins.

but my darling,
there is grace in dying.
and our ephemeral love,
couldn't have crumbled more gracefully.
