Y/N rushed through the woods, her leather satchel held close to her chest to prevent loud clinking noises.

She had been on the run for a long time, the guards of her old kingdom never getting tired of the chase. All because she stole diamonds from the king, and did something else but we don't need to mention that at the moment.

The girl came from a smaller village that had a monarchy instead of, say, Lords or people in power who lead but don't control them fully.

Since the village (kingdom?) she came from was relatively small, they didn't have that much influence on the tabloids. They were never able to plaster her face on a "WANTED : DEAD OR ALIVE" poster.

So that meant that not a lot of people knew of her and why there were guards chasing after her.

She stopped running for a bit and crouched near a tree, covering her mouth with her hand, still clutching her satchel tightly with the other one. Her breathing started getting shaky as she heard multiple footsteps approaching her direction. She stayed as close to the tree as she could be, the footsteps only got closer before something scattered in the opposite direction.

"That way!" One of the goons lead them all of in a different direction.

Once it became clear that they had left, she relaxed, basically falling against the tree. Even though she was exhausted, she couldn't just stay there and sleep. She wasn't one to fall asleep easily either way. She really needed to find somewhere to hide.

And she needed to do it fast.

After walking around carefully for a few minutes she spots what looks like an abandoned village. Once she got through what looked like the front gate, she saw that she was right.

Everything was in shambles. Homes that must've been beautiful once, decayed. She didn't know what happened here but whatever it was caused the village people to leave.

She ran her hand along the rotting wood of a dead tree that had fallen, letting her satchel fall to her side once again since she knew she was safe.

There was a small path underneath a lot of trees. She walks up the steps.

As she gets closer, she can just barely make out a figure in the shadow of the ever decreasing sunlight.

It must be a statue..

She walked to what looked like the town square. There were broken booths and animals scurrying around.

Lady Irene?

It was a statue of her holding what looks like something very important.

She touched the cool chiseled quartz, letting it cool down her sweaty and currently uncomfortable body.

She sighed and flopped against the quartz stairs, leaning her elbows on the small step behind her. "Hello?"

Y/N jumped up at the sound of a voice, holding her small dagger at her side.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" As the person got closer, she could see a little bit more, but it was hard since the sun is setting.

A man with blue hair and deep bags under his eyes approached the steps and started coming closer.

"I should ask you the same question. I thought this place was abandoned."

"I can see why you thought that but no this village is not completely abandoned. If you're looking for a place to stay then you're welcome to. But if you came here with the intention of looting, you won't find anything here." His gentle and fatherly tone explained to her as she slowly put the dagger behind her.

"I wasn't planning on looting this place.. I just needed somewhere safe to sleep." She mumbles, clenching her jaw. That was the truth and nothing but the truth.

"Alright then, I'm Dante. It's a pleasure." He puts his hand out for her to shake, which she does so hesitantly.

"Ophelia," she didn't really want to give him her actual name so she gave him a fake one. Just in case.

"If you follow me, I'll take you to the actual village. Where there aren't any broken houses." He leads the way and she follows, smiling to herself. She has somewhere to stay now, and there was a chance she wouldn't get caught.

Once they get to the actual town, the dreariness of what the village previously was has been replaced by a small but hopeful looking village by the seashore. It didn't look like it had a lot of residents there. But that's understandable since the village didn't exactly look its best.

"Welcome to Phoenix Drop, Ophelia."

She smiles, maybe she could live here. She was definitely hopeful, maybe in a couple of years, the king will die or forget about her (the second one wasn't likely.)

"This place is really pretty, but what happened here? If you don't mind me asking."

When he turned to look at her, the bright smile she saw earlier wasn't present. It was instead replaced with a somber look. The look of a man with regrets.

"Well, a long time ago.." he told the story of this town from when he got here to the present day and why it was basically in shambles. "Aphmau's been gone for 13 years along with the others. Everyday Zoey's been going back to that place to try and get them out. I don't really think it's going to work though, how does she even know they're there?"

She places a comforting hand on his shoulder, "I'm so sorry Dante. I can't imagine the guilt you must be feeling."

"It's alright, but I need to go out on patrol, if you can find and fix up one of these homes, you're more than welcome to stay here." He offered, before heading to wherever he was going to patrol.

Find and fix up a house? She had actually never built her own house before. It might take her a while but she was sure she could throw something together.

It might've taken her months but it was worth it, Dante had helped for the most part but she was happy with how it came out. She had been living with Kawaii~Chan and Dante for about two years, they were helping her design her home and were now like the family she had a long time ago.

The house was a small one story house that was a little ways away from Donna and Logan's house. Even though it was small, it took longer than you might've expected to build.

She wiped the sweat from her brow as she finished moving some old furniture and stuff into the place. "Thanks Dante, this place came out great." She passed the tired looking man some water.

"Cause I did most of the work."

"That's not true! I helped with the demolition of the previous framework!" She huffs and shoves his shoulder playfully.

"Oh my Irene no. Don't" he laughs. "I get beat up enough by Nekoette, she's trying to use me as her personal training dummy."

"If you want, I can make her one.." The girl suggests before taking another gulp of water.

"Lia, you've already done enough, taking care of Nekoette while Kawaii~Chan and I take some time to relax. Besides, she's just messing around so it's nothing serious."

"Alright then." She looks around, before looking at Dante again, "Shouldn't you go on patrol today?"

"Oh right, I forgot. I've gotta go, I'll see you later kid." She smiled and threw a pebble at him. "I'm not a kid!"

He just closed the door on her.

Her usual day was filled with anything and everything she could do to keep herself from getting bored.

For example, she had become acquainted with the bow and arrow that her parents made her

And no, she didn't forget about the diamonds, she hid them under a floorboard that even Dante didn't know was loose.

Sometimes she spent time with Levin, just hanging out whenever he had time. And it never seemed like Malachi had any free time.

She spent most of her time drawing, reading, and practicing with a bow and arrow.

This was her home now, and she would protect it with her life if needed.
