Kassie, a twelve year old girl, was getting ready for school. It was probably going to be just a normal old day at her school, in her boring old town. So were her friends Aubrey, Delilah, and Ansleigh. But little did they know, everything would change... "Kassie! Come on! You're going to be late for school!" her mother shouted. Kassie grabbed her bag and ran downstairs, and her food was already there for her on the kitchen table. "Pancakes! Thanks mom."she said, as she scarfed down her food. "Go on, you'll be late for the bus!" her dad told her, taking a sip of coffee. After finishing up, her mom shouted, "Love you, be safe! Remember you're a smart girl, have a good day!"

"Thanks dad, thanks mom, bye!" she told them as she walked out the door, and into the bus. She saw a glimpse of fire, but figured it was the stove. She found a seat next to Delilah, where Kassie quickly got the window seat. "Hey, what's up?" she asked. "Nothing really. Just a boring old day at school." Kassie sighed, then looked out the window. " Kassie, it's Friday, at least we always get ice cream after school!"Delilah said, and they both laughed. "Yeah, I guess you are right. I shouldn't be moping around all day."Kassie said, still with a little giggle. She scrunched up a bit as a third person came to sit in the grey, ripped, seats. A few minutes later, they arrived. "We are here!" the bus driver told them over the speaker. The two friends walked out of the bus and went down the hard gravel into the school.

Beside the nurses office, where Mr. Bradley sat in his chair working on his computer, they found Ansleigh and Aubrey. "Hey guys!"Ansleigh said as soon as she saw them. "Hi" they all said. They walked together to class along the faded red and blue checkered halls. Kassie's red hair swayed as they went to the classroom. Aubrey had cut her blonde hair to her shoulders, Delilah's long brown hair in two braids, and Ansleighs neon purple hair, which was very long. Kassie had always questioned her hair, but thought it looked pretty. The girls got to their classroom, and were sitting at their hard, brown, desks. "Ok, I want everyone to get out their science books." Mrs. Lianna said to the class. "Yay, science" Aubrey whispered. The girls got out their notebooks from the bottom of the desks, and started to do the assignment Mrs. Leanna told them to do. Kassie wrote down the chemistry, while Aubrey and Delilah did it mentally. Ansleigh was doing it on a chrome book, and she typed the chemistry stuff in. "Your time is up children. Get to lunch! Go on, go on." Mrs. Lianna told the class. As Ansleigh, Kassie, Aubrey and Delilah set off, they grabbed their book bags for the next class to be prepared. "Come on!" Ansleigh said as Aubrey stood still, and reached into her book bag to get a pencil. "Oops. Sorry." She said as she put the pencil back.

They walked down the hallway, and when they entered the lunch room they got their usual seats. Delilah and Ansleigh in front, and Kassie and Aubrey in the back. The seats' red color had started to fade, and the medal holding the seats were brown and rusty. The painting on the wall of the longhorn had lost its horns, so the "longhorn" mascot didn't really work out. The girls opened their lunch boxes, and picked their food up."Really?! Wheat bread again?" Kassie looked at her disgusting nutty sandwich. "That's gross! My mom always packs me PB and J." Delilah said. "Same with me!"said Ansleigh. "I usually use the lunch lines, but they take too long." Aubrey told her. "Best not to waste it."Kassie then took a bite of her sandwich. "Gross, but I'm used to it!"She took another bite. "I heard a rumor that Jeremy Copper likes Addison Millers." Delilah said. "Really?" Aubrey asked, sounding a bit upset. "Gotta crush?" Kassie asked jokingly. "No..." Aubrey responded. "Suuuure." Ansleigh said. "It's a rumor guys! Quit messing with her. It may not be true." Delilah told them confidently. "Oh no! I forgot my jacket. Lunch just started, so we have a lot of time to go and grab it."Ansleigh said hurriedly, racing out of her seat with the others behind her. Kassie, Aubrey, and Delilah stopped to take a breath. Ansleigh, staring in the classroom, wasn't moving. "You ok?"asked Aubrey. "Look!" Ansleigh pointed to the center of the room, and there lied a purple orb of some sort. "Wow..." Delilah said in awe. "What is it?" Aubrey asked. "I don't know but I want to touch it!" She moved closer to the orb. "Wait! It could be dangerous!" Ansleigh shouted. "Maybe I should just grab my jacket and we can get out of here. Sound good?" Ansleigh said, a little crack in her voice. "No way!" Aubrey said. "Yeah! Who is with me to touch it?"Kassie said. Everyone put their hand in but Delilah and Ansleigh. "Come on guys! It'll be fine. It's probably just another one of Mike's pranks." Kassie encouraged them. The swirling orb spun for a few moments while Ansleigh and Delilah hesitated. They sighed. "Ok, we'll do it." Ansleigh said. The girls gathered around the orb. "One, two, three!" They all touched the orb.

"Nothing happened. I was hoping for something cooler than this." Aubrey said. "Do you hear that? It sounds like... Thunder." Delilah said. "I hear it too."answered Kassie. "Same!" Aubrey said. "What is it? It's supposed to be sunny out today!" Ansleigh shouted as the rumble got louder. It rung their ears. A purple circle with black swirls in the middle showed up. "What's THAT!?!?" Delilah shouted over the rumble of what was like thunder. "Ok! Now that's cool!" Kassie shouted over the sound. "It looks like a portal of some sort, but the question is, where does it go?" Kassie asked, but was ignored. "Ok, dibs on going first! NO taking my dibs!"Aubrey called. "Dibs on second!" Kassie called back. "Do you really think we should go in? It might be really dangerous... And doesn't this seem a little weird to you? I mean, we could just leave and not come again.."Delilah told the other girls, with a nervous chuckle, as she stared at the portal nervously.

This time Ansleigh seemed to be in on the idea. "Where do you think it leads to?" asked Ansleigh. "There's only one way to find out!" Aubrey said and jumped into the swirling, purple, portal.
