Chapter 27

Derek walked in in Meredith's hospital room a couple of mornings later

"Morning" Derek said as he sat down on the bed kissing her forehead

"Hmm.. Morning" She groaned as she woke up.

"Did you sleep well?" Derek asked

"Yeah.. You?" She asked half asleep

"I did. Ready to go home today?" Derek asked

"I can't wait" Meredith smiled, moving her body in an attempt to sit up

"Mom will bring Zola in a bit. She's gonna go into town with Lexie and Mark."

"I can't wait to hold her" Meredith smiled widely

"When I told her you would come home today, she was smiling and kept saying ma"

"I missed you so much.." Meredith admitted

"We're going home" He smiled and kissed her passionately making Meredith out of breath

"Meredith, are you ready to go home?" Miranda asked as she entered the room. Meredith was sitting in the bed with Zola on her lap as Derek was packing her stuff

"Yes!" She almost yelled

"I think that's clear" Miranda laughed

"When will you discharge me?" Meredith asked while Zola was crawling between her legs

"Once you're done packing you can go. But first we need to discuss the rules."

"Rules? Miranda I can take care of my-"

"Yes, rules! No unneeded transferring for the rest of the weeks, no more work-outs than needed and no PT until monday."

"But I-"

"No buts, Meredith. And if you feel sick again, even a sore throat, you'll tell someone. We don't want you to get admitted again, okay?"

"Yeah.." Meredith whispered

"And enjoy your family!" Miranda smiled

"Thanks, Miranda.. For everything you've done for us"

"I've done it with pleasure, Meredith." Bailey smiled as she walked out

"You ready?" Derek asked Meredith

"I so am!"

"Ya!" Zola said

"I think Zo is too" Derek laughed wich made Meredith giggle

"Now let me help you get in your chair" Derek said when he scooped Meredith up who was holding Zola and placed her in the chair.

Meredith started pushing her chair towards the door as Derek said "Let me, you cuddle Zozo a bit longer" He smiled and pushed her out of the room, towards the elevator.

"We're home" Derek smiled as he helped Meredith out of the car into her wheelchair before unbuckling Zola and placing her in Meredith's lap. The three of them got into the house as Derek suggested to watch a movie.

Derek helped his wife and daughter on the couch before grabbing some blankets. The three of them made themselves comfortable under the blankets and they started watching a Disney movie.

Halfway through the movie, Zola fell asleep and Derek laid her down in her crib before cuddling again with Meredith as the doorbell rang

Derek stood up to go open the door as Meredith pushed herself up to sit upright.
