I looked both ways down the dark street, letting out yet another sign.
He was late again.
Caleb always did this, he promised he would be here to pick me up from the hospital after my shift.
But yet again he never showed up.
I rang his number, after a moment I heard his voice.
"hey! What's up-" however I did not answer, I waited because I knew better "-ahhh got ya, well clearly I'm busy with important stuff so if it's that important leave a message, I might get back to you"
I hung up, he was such a twat sometimes yet I would like to believe he loves me.
He does right?
I hugged my bag closer to my waist, my home was at least a fourth five minute walk from here.
That's why caleb was meant to meet me, he said he would drive me home.
I'm beyond exhausted, I was working in the cafe from 8am this morning till 4pm; then I started my shift at the hospital at 7pm till 3am the next morning.
I was just hoping he would drop me home so I could get enough sleep for my shift bar tomorrow at 12pm.
I looked at the time, 4:15am.
He was supposed to be here an hour and fifteen minutes ago, finally allowing it to sink in thst he is not coming I began walking down the street.
I hated walking on my own in the dark, it's one of my biggest fears.
5 minutes into walking I began to feel like someone was following me, I peeked over my shoulder to see three figures a few miles behind me.
I walked quicker and I noticed their voices were getting louder, they were getting closer.
I walked at a fast pace, not enough to make a fool of myself incase it was just people walking home.
But enough for me to put space between us.
"oi sweetheart, where you going?" the moment the voice called out to me I began running.
I'd seen and heard about all the stuff thst could happen to women at night, hell even men, I've had to deal with it first hand working in a hospital.
