June 2021

I let out a small sigh as I heard my dad ramble on the other end of the phone.

"Still your dad?" Jungwon questioned as he walked into the bedroom and looked up at me, as I sat in Sunoo's bunk, hugging his pillow tightly.

"No, but dad. It's fine, I got the days off and the company agreed that I could bring Sunoo along," I assured once again making Jungwon snort as I sent him a questioning look.

"I'm just fascinated," he excused and I slowly nodded my head at him.

"But da-" I sighed as my dad cut me off again, "yes... yes... I know."

"Lily!" Sunoo's voice yelled out making me sigh before telling my dad to wait a minute.

"What?" I yelled in return.

I didn't get an answer so I just went back to speaking to my dad again after letting out a small sigh.

"Tell stepmom that we're both coming, you can't convince me otherwise and neither can she," I stated to my dad.

"Lily?" Sunoo softly called out making me glance over at him with a small smile.

My smile immediately dropped as realization hit me  and I looked back at Sunoo, who turned out to be standing just in front of his dad.

"Dad... I think I have to go," I muttered over the phone, "tell stepmom I can't wait to meet her, I'll see you when we go next week. Bye, love you."

I quickly ended the call before looking over at Sunoo and his dad, with an utmost confused look. Both immediately got the message of how confused I was.

"Uh... my dad wanted to say something to you," Sunoo excused and stepped a bit aside so I could see his dad properly.

Before I got time to react his dad had knelt down on the floor and bowed down with his forehead touching the ground.

"What?" I immediately looked to Sunoo, who looked down at his dad with as much confusion in his face as I felt.

"I am so sorry," his dad spoke up.

"Oh..." I slowly trailed off, "wait... no, no, no, no stand up," I urged before crawling down from Sunoo's bunk and rushing over to pull his dad up from the ground, "don't bow, don't bow."

"Why?" Sunoo's dad immediately looked to Sunoo who let out a small sigh as he pursed his lips.

"I told you... Lin only spend three years in China," Sunoo reminded, "she don't like when people bow to her."

"Can I ask what this is all about?" I questioned and looked between the two with confusion written all over my face.

"My dad wanted to apologize before we sent to Chi-" Sunoo started making his dad immediately nod at me.

"I wanted to apologize for all the things I said to you at the Lunar New Year's at our house," his dad immediately spoke, "I know I'm an adult and should know what is coming out of my mouth, but you must have an understanding with me. I beg you. The work had been stressing me out the days up until the lunar new year and I couldn't cope with an extra person being there as well. I didn't intend to throw all those racist remarks at you, and especially not at my son's girlfriend who obviously makes him so happy. All the things he's said over the phone... you sound like the perfect girl for him and I'm so terribly sorry if I ruined any chances there was of your marrying my son-"

"Woah, hey, what?" Sunoo spoke up with widened eyes making his dad look to him.

"You're going to the wedding in China, right?" his dad spoke and we both nodded, "you'll get smitten immediately, you'd want to marry her in a heartbeat after going to a wedding together. You'll dream of seeing her in that beautiful dress, from that day forward. And I can't help but thing I had done something that would make her reply with a no if you ever were to propose to her."

"Mr Kim, I can assure you, you have nothing to worry about," I let out a small laugh, "the things you said to me have nothing to do with the relationship I have with your son. I'd love him regardless of how you spoke to me."

"You would?" Sunoo softly questioned and grabbed my hand tightly in his.

"Of course I would," I assured him, "it's you I fell in love with... not your dad."

"Promise to marry my son regardless of the mistakes I have done," Sunoo's dad spoke up.

"I think it may be a bit too early to promise anything like that," I let out a small laugh, "but I'll promise to try and make him as happy as possible, the years I'm lucky enough to have him."

"Thank you," his dad breathed out before pulling me in for a hug, that I hesitantly replied, "give him the world if possible. He needs someone to keep his bright energy up."

"I know," I assured and softly patted his back before glancing to Sunoo, who still refused to let go of my hand.

"Dad... I think you should go home now," Sunoo softly spoke making his dad pull away from me, "now... do you believe it when I say that Lin doesn't hold a grudge to you?"

"A bit," his dad nodded, "I guess I'll go home now... I'll say hi to your mom and sister for you both."

"Follow him out," I urged Sunoo who just watched his dad slowly leave the dorm.

"I think I'd rather cuddle up with you though," Sunoo brightly grinned down at me, I playfully rolled my eyes before just smiling up at him, "I saw you hugging my pillow up in my bed, and may I add you look awfully cute today my little princess."

"What about yourself, huh? Little Prince?" I questioned in return making him just giggle before he tugged me over to his bunk and made me crawl up after him.

"Lily?" Sunoo questioned as he turned around and sat down whilst looking at me, while I crawled up in his bunk.

"Mhm?" I hummed and sat down beside him.

"I am so in love with you," he spoke looking at me in awe, with big eyes.

"I love you too," I grinned pecking his cheek softly.

"And I can't wait to go to that wedding with you, and... I know you'll be so pretty, and I think my dad might be right... maybe I do want to see you in a pretty dress after that wedding... walking towards me... saying yes to be my wife..." he dreamingly commented before looking down at me with a wide smile.

"We're only 19," I reminded him and patted his head softly.

"Some get married young," he spoke up in defense.

"I'm not getting married while I'm only 17 in my head," I reminded him, "the day I turn 20 or above, in international age... we can talk about it. Okay?"

"I'll count the days till then," he bright grinned and nodded at me.

"You'll be counting for long," I let out a small laugh as he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me down to lay beside him.

"I'll wait however long I have to," Sunoo shrugged before turning his head and pressing a kiss to my cheek.

Wait however long he has to... this boy truly wants to marry and spend the rest of his life with me.
