She knew that he was in a lot of pain, but she knew that if she'd approach him and tried to talk to him about it, he would just push her away. The best she could do was keep others from hurting him, and even that at times wouldn't work.
When she exited the classroom, so much was going through her head.
Sure, it was true that he wasn't the most likeable person, but it didn't mean that the teacher had to act so coldy towards him. After all, he was coming to her for help, not to be told to "suck it up, you brought it upon yourself."
She was upset after that, but couldn't do anything to help. She knew how he felt and wanted to help, but she couldn't, since he just pretented to be tough and go through it alone... just like she had been doing all those years... and that is what truly broke her heart.
