Chapter 9

** Chapter 9 **

** Katie's P.O.V **

" Katie come back, please!" Jai chased after me.

" Fuck off!" I shouted back at him, picking up my pace.

" Babe, please you know I love you" He said.

" Thats hard to believe" I laughed in his face.

" Please, don't leave" He said grabbing my wrist.

" Don't bother" I said removing his arm from my wrist and going downstairs. The boat did not return to the beach for another ten minutes so there was no escaping.

" Katie, it didn't mean anything, it was a game!" He tried to defend himself.

" A game of cheat on your girlfriend?" I said sarcastically still walking away from him at a fast fast.

" Don't be like this, I love you!" He said still trying to stop me.

" Don't tell me to 'not be like this', you have no right!" I shouted.

" Please, I'm so sorry" He said as he finally caught up with me and spun me around to face him.

" I'm sorry but I can't do this right now" I said, turning away as fast I could before the tears ran down my cheeks.

** Walking home**

I got off the bus a couple of yards away from my street and walked the rest. I pulled my phone out as soon as I heard the ring. It was Jai. I pressed 'Decline' and shoved it back in my pocket. I just couldn't bring myself to believe what had just happened. I really thought he was special, different to the others. But then he does this?

' Katie, where are you? We're all worried:(' I read a text from James.

' I'm fine, nearly home now x' I replied.

' I feel terrible, if I wasn't busy with Ashley I could've stopped it...' He texted.

' Don't be silly, Jai did what he did, we can't change that' I answered.

' I guess, just know that he really does like you, he's not used to drinking that much!' James texted.

' I'm going to bed, see you guys soon okay x' I lied.

'Okay, sweet dreams <3' He texted back. I went to put my  phone back in my pocket when I bumped into someone.

" I'm so sorry!" I said, it was 8pm, and  it was already pitch back, I was TERRIFIED. 

" Its my fault honestly' The voice said, it was a boy.

" Luke?" I asked as I took a closer look at him.

"Katie?" He asked, coming off his skateboard.

" What are you doing out alone in the dark?" I laughed.

" I just went to the park with Aaron" He replied." What are you doing back, I thought you went to the beach with Jai?" He asked suspiciously.

" I was" I said simply.

" So where's Jai?" He questioned.

" He's with James and Ashley" I replied.

" Katie are you okay?" He asked noticing a tear rolling down my cheek.

" Yeah, just something my mum said, its nothing" I lied.

" Oh, well I hope you're okay," He began." I know something that'll cheer you up!" He said picking me up.

" What are you doing?" I asked in shock.

" Cheering you up." He said putting me on his skateboard and standing behind me.

" But I can't skate" I hesitated.

" So I'll have to help you" He said putting his arms around my waist. I felt uncomfortable at first considering what happened between us before but after all he was only trying to comfort me.

" Where are we going?" I giggled as he back to skate.

" Home" He replied, his warm breath against the back of my neck. 

" So whats really wrong?" He asked as we got closer to my house.

" I told you, my mum said something that upset me a little"  I answered.

" No, whats the real reason?" He said, reading me like a book.

" How did you know that wasn't the truth?" I asked.

" You arrived back from your date alone with a tear rolling down your cheek" He said.

" So, maybe I was crying because my fish died" I joked.

" Jai wouldn't let you walk home alone in the dark" He stated.

" So what did he do?" He asked.

" Nothing" I replied, I didn't want to talk about it.

" Katie, look at me" He said turning me swiftly around to face him." What did Jai do?" He asked worriedly.

" Can we just drop it please?" I asked avoiding eye contact.

" But-" Luke tried to say.

" Please?" I begged.

" Fine, but I WILL find out" He winked as he pulled up outside Christie's house.

" You do that" I winked back at him." Thanks for the lift" I laughed as I hoped off of the skateboard.

" No worries" He smiled." Goodnight Katie" He said as I walked up the drive.

" Goodnight Luke" I called back to him as I put the key in the door.
