Marinette enters through the gates of the Agreste mansion taking deep breaths, as she walks up to the door
I wonder if Adrien is here
Marinette rings the doorbell and is greeted by a big burly bodyguard with gray hair and a black suit.
"H-Hello"
He grunts in response barely looking at her
Marinette enters the house stepping into the foyer
This was a bad idea
A frail woman greets her from the stairs
"Welcome Miss Dupain-Cheng, I am Nathalie, Mr. Agreste's Assistant, you can wait in Mr. Agreste's office, he'll be with you momentarily," The frail woman says leading Marinette to a room close to the stairs.
"T-Thank you"
Marinette enters the office willing her knees to not knock together
bad idea bad idea bad idea bad idea...
"He'll be here shortly" Nathalie lets out a small cough
"Thank you" she nods
"Tikki I can't do this" Marinette whisper shouts once she's alone
"Marinette" Tikki rolls her eyes, peeking her head out of Marinette's cream shoulder bag "You'll be fine"
"I wonder if Adrien is here," Marinette says looking at the door
Tikki sighs "Marinette you arent here to see Adrien, you're here to see Mr. Agreste"
"Right right right," Marinette says shaking her head
Marinette examines the office her eyes landing on the portrait of Adrien's mom

"Wow," she says breathlessly after walking over to the portrait studying the face of Adrien's mom "She really does have Adrien's eyes" She reaches up to touch the portrait "She's beautiful"
Behind her, someone clears their throat
"Hello Miss Dupain-Cheng"
Marinette jumps
"GAH IM SO SORRY I JUST SAW THE PORTRAIT AND I-" she takes a deep breath "your wife was beautiful"
The man's expression remained the same except for a slight twitching at the corner of his lips
"Yes, she was"
Marinette clears her throat "y-you wanted to meet with me?"
"Yes I did," Gabriel says, his eyes trailing to the sketchbook that Marinette was clutching to
Marinette follows his gaze "oh-oh I didn't know what this meeting was about so I brought my sketches just in case"
Gabriel hums in response walking over to Marinette holding out his hand, Marinette stares at his outstretched hand
"Well you brought your sketches so show them to me," Gabriel says with his hand still held out to Marinette
Marinette places the book in his hand, holding her breath as he calmly looked through the sketches, stopping on the sketch of a hat with feathers
"You made this hat for my son," He says turning the sketch to face Marinette
Marinette let out a breath "Yes, I did b-but I know he has a feather allergy so I made sure to use fake feathers"
"You're very talented but that's not why I called this meeting" He hands the sketch back to Marinette "What are your intentions with my son"
"I-i um" Marinette sputters, her cheek turning bright red "A-Adrien is just a friend"
"That's not what I asked, what are your intentions with my son"
Marinette looks down "Adrien is my friend, I intend to protect and care for him. I understand that you don't like me dating him, that's why we broke up a few days ago but I still want to be his friend and I want to be there for him."
"I heard from your classmate, Lila Rossi, that you were still dating"
Marinette mutters a few choice words under her breathe
"Lila has a talent for lying sir" Marinette looks up confidently looking at Gabriel "We are no longer dating and I recommend not putting your trust in Lila Rossi, she is very untrustworthy"
Gabriel stares at Marinette intently "I see, your intentions are..." He trails off from his sentence staring at his late wife's portrait "Thank you for coming, Nathalie will show you to the door...Miss Dupain-Cheng?"
Marinette looks up at him "y-yes"
"You have real talent" he points to her sketchbook
Marinette smiles "Thank you"
Gabriel stares at her for a moment as she turns to leave
"She has your smile Emilie," he says to the portrait once he is alone
