Marinette and Alya get up from their seats and start heading down to lunch when a boy with a red cap, headphones, and glasses calls out to them.
"Hey babe, hey Marinette," the boy says, kissing Alya on the cheek, hugging her from behind, and waving to Mari.
"You guys are sickeningly cute" Marinette giggles rolling her eyes
"Come eat lunch with Adrien and me," the boy says to the girls while pointing his thumb at Adrien who is getting something from his bag
"oh i-i don't know Nino, you and Adrien," Marinette says getting all dreamy-eyed while watching Adrien "hehehehehe Adrien," Mari says, still gazing at the green-eyed boy
"Earth to Mari" Alya snaps "you're drooling," she says smirking
"oh uh, i-i" she sputters while wiping her drool and looking around to make sure Adrien wasn't looking.
"Anyways I was saying that we should start heading to lunch," Nino says "Adrien!" he calls out "let's go, dude"
Adrien walks over and waves to Mari
"Hey Mari," he says smirking
"H-hey" she manages to say, and waves
He stares at her hoodie then up at her and smirks
"ok let's go," he says interrupting Nino and Ayla's whispered conversation (probably a new scheme to get Mari and Adrien together)
They walk to lunch together and sit down at a table
"ADRIKINSSSS"
Adrien winces at the nickname and the voice behind it
"Adrikins come sit with me," the light blonde girl says pouting
"Chloe I can't right now I'm sitting with Mari...and Alya and Nino," Adrien says while glancing at Mari who had a scowl on her face that softened when he said her name
"But why would you want to sit with...them," she said with a disgusted tone while pointing directly at Mari
"Because they're my friends Chloe," Adrien says rolling his eyes "ill sit with you another day"
"Fine" Chloe pouts, rolls her eyes then walks away
"Sorry about that guys," Adrien says apologetically
"No worries, it's not your fault, it's Chloe being Chloe," Mari says scowling
Adrien chuckles that beautiful soft chuckle that makes Mari melt. She finds herself mesmerized once again and doesn't even notice that she staring.
"Do I have something on my face?" Adrien says after catching Mari staring
Alya smirks
"Yeah actually I see it too," Alya says
"Wha-" Nino starts before Alya kicks his shin "ouc- I mean yeah oh yeah I see it too"
"Where," Adrien says wiping his face
"Maybe Mari can get it for you" Alya smirks
"h-huh m-me w-what i-" Mari sputters
"can you, please?" Adrien says looking at her
"O-oh yeah um ok," Mari says
Mari reaches up with a shaking hand and wipes an imaginary crumb off of Adrien's cheek. They stare at each other for what seems like forever until the bell rings.
Mari is the first to break the stare-off
"U-um we better get back to class"
Adrien clears his throat "o-oh yeah right"
They all get up to throw away their food and the group heads back to class. Marinette can stop thinking about Adrien's dreamy eyes and Adrien, sweet baby Adrien can stop thinking about how cute Mari looks today and how her eyes are like the night sky.
What am I doing, Adrien thinks to himself, I love ladybug plus there's Kagami, snap out of it Adrien you cant start liking Marinette too, and don't forget Luka
School drags on, both Mari and Adrien are in trances until school is over. Mari rushes out of class. She walks out of school and sees a cute boy with black hair and blue tips waiting for her with his guitar playing her special tune. She smiles at him
"H-hey Luka," she says "What are you doing here"
She pecks him on the cheek
"Hey Marinette," Luka says in his deep voice "I have to tell you something, will you come to the park with me?"
"oh yeah ofc Luka" Mari answers
They walk to the park while Luka is playing her special tune. They find a bench and sit down
"What did you want to ask me" Mari ask
Luka stops playing and looks at her
"Mari I love you, I know you still love Adrien, but I can't get out out of my head, I said I would wait for you to get over him but I can't, I dream about you every night, I'm eager to hear your voice and when you're not with me I feel empty. Give me a chance...please" he spews out
"Luka.." Mari says solemnly "i-i don't know what to say, you're a great guy and a great friend but I can't stop loving him...I'm sorry" Marinette says lowering her head
Luka looks at her with a pained look
"O-oh um ok, I'm sorry, I respect your decision" Luka gets up choking back tears "I don't even know what I thought you would say but it's okay, is it ok if you give me some space I think its best." he smiles "don't worry Mari ill be fine" he walks away

Mari is left speechless, she sobs
"I'm such a bad friend Tikki" Mari sobs to her little red kwami
"You can't fake your feeling Marinette, you did the right thing," Tikki says comforting Mari
Mari can barely answer through her sobs but she manages to whisper "I'm so sorry Luka"
up in his lair hawk-moth is waiting for his next unexpecting victim to defeat ladybug and chat noir and bring the love of his life back to him
