Chapter 10: Accusation

The doors sprung open and immediately men rushed at us, but with laser sticks, not guns. Probably some important thing that can't be punctured or something here.

We fought through them and then reached the doors to the holding cells.

"This will be where Artemis and Robin will be. Maybe others, if Luthor hasn't readied them yet." She explained. Again.

I opened the doors and we ran through. It was a plain concrete room, circular in shape and there were no cells.

Just chains.

Artemis, Robin, and Kid Flash were already here, chained to the wall. They grinned when they saw me.

"Hey sis." Cheshire said and ran to brake her cuffs.

I broke Robin and KF's.

"Ok. You'll follow us to Luthor's labs. We'll split up, Cheshire on one team, me on the other. Artemis, Wally, you're with Cheshire. Robin, you're with me. Cheshire is on our team right now, listen to her, she made the plan." I said as we went back to the elevators.

"How do we know we can trust her?" Robin accused.

"Because if I wanted to kill someone I would have killed him way earlier and not broke you three out. Now shut up before I change my mind." She growled as she pressed the hidden button to sublevel 16.

When we got out, once again, there were guards, who we took down and then split up. I ran until I found someone, who just so happened to be Superboy and Aqualad. They were both wearing inhibitor collars. Robin messed with Aqualad's while I messed with Superboy's.

We got them off and kept looking we didn't see anyone else until we reached the rendezvous point. Cheshire had Miss. Martian, and of course, Artemis and KF.

"Where's Max?" Robin asked.

"Not with us." Wally said.

"Where could she be?" I asked Cheshire.

She thought for a moment.

"I think I know, but it's under tight security. I'll need to go alone, or no one will be able to get out." She said.

"But-!" I cut Wally off.

"We'll have to trust her." I said, "Follow me."

They hesitated, but soon enough, I was running through the building, retracing our steps back out. Once we got outside, we climbed the nearest building and waited.

It took three minutes, but then alarms started blaring and sure enough, Cheshire emerged with an unfamiliar girl.

They started climbing the ladder, but they weren't going to make it in time. Guards started running out the building, shooting at them.

I pulled out a rope arrow, ready to drop it and pull them up, but right when I dropped it, Cheshire got shot in the leg.

She grunted, but grabbed on and the other girl, Max, followed suit. She was right at the edge and Superboy held a hand out to her as I pulled and she grabbed on. We did the same for Max.

"Let's go!" She yelled.

We started running across the roof and I pressed my old emergency alert button from my time as Speedy. I never really got rid of it.

We jumped across the roof to the next, which was shorter. Cheshire and Max stumbled at the contact and they made eye contact.

Cheshire looked down at her leg, I looked too. It wasn't a bullet wound.

It was a dart.

She yanked it out and I saw Max pull one off her arm.

"Crap." Cheshire said as the guards started shooting at us from the other building.

We kept running, but Cheshire was getting slower. And Max.

There was a taller building next, so Superboy just jumped off the building and everyone else jumped off one by one. Superboy caught them and put them down.

Max jumped down and when Superboy put her down, she was unconscious. Aqualad threw her over his shoulder.

I looked at Cheshire, but she was already in the air.

Unconscious.

I was last and once I got down, Superboy picked up the other unconscious female and started running.

A bike pulled up next to me. Someone wearing a dark green suit started talking as I ran.

"I thought you would have gotten rid of that. Anyway, since you were next to Luthor's building, I'd assumed you'd gone after the team. I alerted the League." He said and then the Batmobile sped past him and then stopped.

The top slid open.

Superboy dropped Max and Cheshire in the back.

"Cheshire?" Batman asked, looking at me.

"She wanted to help." I said. "It just didn't go well."

"Mmm." He said as Robin hopped into the front seat.

The top slid back over and he sped away.

Then the bioship landed, cars were already stopped because of the Batmobile, so it just landed in the road.

We all got in, including Green Arrow and his bike.

All the big League members were there.

Well. Cheshire is lucky she's unconscious.
