"There are many types of monsters in this world. Monsters who will not show themselves and who cause trouble. Monsters who abduct children and monsters who devour dreams. Monsters who suck blood and monsters who always tell lies... lying monsters are a real nuisance. They're much more cunning than other monsters. They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart. They eat even though they they've never experienced hunger. They study even though they have no interest in academics. They seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such a monster, I would likely be eaten by it, because in truth... I am that monster."

There was a cool wisp of air in the welcoming summer breeze, almost like a whispered voice whom softly beckoned her with a hypotonic method of gentle words and a soft, angelic tone to reconsider what she was about to do. But as everyone knew her to be, Marinette had always been too stubborn for her own good. When she put her mind to something, it was impossible to convince her to abandon whatever idea she had concocted. An idea that would've been rather preposterous to all, because she believed that she wasn't needed, that she wasn't wanted. That no one cared for her, and no one ever would.
