When The Hand That Fed Gets Bitten Part I

Start from the beginning

"I'm afraid I need some help." She scoffed, with the way he was acting right now, nobody will be willing to help his sorry ass. "Look, I know I don't seem like the kind of person you would want to help but, I'm desperate. I have been running on fumes both physically and emotionally." While her gun was aimed at Ezekiel, she walked sideways towards Vincent and nudged him. "You call the shots here. You know the guy." He frowned in distaste, glancing at her before looking back at Ezekiel.

This made Ezekiel anxious, "Come on, Vincent! No hard feelings right?" Arden, who has been silently observing the guy, snapped. "Shut the f*ck up!" Ezekiel was taken aback and immediately silenced himself, nodding at Arden. "Come on, Vincent. We don't have all day." Standing around like this was making her anxious, not to mention the suspicious man in front of them.

Vincent let out an anxious breath and closed his eyes firmly, "He's okay. I'll take responsibility for him." She did a double-take on him, Vincent had a defeated look on his face. "You sure? I can shoot him between the eyes right here and then." Ezekiel's eyes widened as he fell on his knees and started to beg. "Please! I'm a changed man! I'm not who I was before!" Vincent stormed towards him and dragged him roughly, not once paying the two a glance.

Arden and Aliya shared a look of confusion. "I don't like this. I feel like we're losing footing in the cabin." Arden's jaw ticked in unease, he wasn't comfortable with the growing number of guests in the house. "You saw how he looked at him, didn't you? I've never seen Vincent that bothered." Vincent has always been the calm and understanding one in the group. Aliya nodded before looking around, checking to see if there were others lurking.

They jogged towards the cabin and were surprised by the sight of Ezekiel with a bloodied face on the floor. Vincent was hovering above him with a trembling body and a shaking fist. They both ran in, Aliya pulled Ezekiel out of Vincent's way while Arden pulled Vincent off.

Ezekiel held onto her, "I'm sorry." The sadness and sincerity in his voice made her frown. She didn't trust him, not after how he acted earlier. When she sat him down in the corner, she went up to Vincent and started questioning him. "What was that?" Vincent dropped his head down in shame, "I just lost control." She sighed in disappointment before giving him a wet rag and a glass of water.

She tapped him on his shoulder, "Get yourself together, don't let the kids see you like this." He solemnly looked at her, seemingly tracing every inch of her face before nodding and walking off. She put her hands on her waist and turned around to look at Ezekiel. He had a bloody nose and a dark circle on his left eye. His smile earlier left no trace.

"I'll take care of him." Arden already had a wet rag on his hand when he passed her by. She could only nod at his back before going to where the family was, thankful that Arden was the one handling Ezekiel.

The couple were huddled and were in a serious conversation when Meredith noticed her come in. They both looked up at her, "You guys alright?" Meredith nodded eagerly, pointing gently at the kids who were sleeping soundly. "Alright, I'll make some dinner so you guys can rest up. That was quite a scare." Vincent nodded at her gratefully which made her smile at them before going into the kitchen.
