*Time Skip*

In all honesty, you had no idea why you even had to be on the ship at the same time as Loki. You wanted nothing to do with him, and now that they had him tucked away in a cell, you were happy for him to stay that way for the rest of his life.

You'd spent every second since coming on board forcing yourself to stay amongst company. If you were alone, you would get curious. If you got curious, you would begin asking questions. Why had he abandoned you? Why hadn't he had he been so desperate to leave you behind? Had he ever loved you? So, you'd stayed close to Nat, hoping to keep your mind from wandering for too long.

Your plan had gone awry, however, when Tony had given your shoulder a rough pat, drawing your attention to him. "We need you to talk to him," he started, looking a little shocked at your scoff. "He won't talk to any of us, but he know's you. He might spill something to you."

And before you could say no, he was leading you down the hallway towards the holding cell.

As soon as you stepped into the room, it felt as though the air had been knocked out of you. Loki looked like a wild animal, pacing the perimeter of the cell in wide circles. You cleared your throat, catching his attention, and the pacing came to an abrupt stop.

"Y/N?" His eyes went wide as he watched you move out of the shadows, taking a few steps towards him. "What are you doing-"

"What am I doing here?" you asked, repeating his question with a shake of your head. "I was just about to ask you the same question," you added, your glare boring into his forehead as you attempted to keep your cool. "Thought you wanted off of this planet," you muttered, crossing your arms over your chest.

"I'm here on business," he uttered, his eyes dragging over your as he moved closer to the glass, surveying you. "Can't imagine you're having fun playing nice with these idiots," he added, a smirk pulling at his lips.

You glanced away from him for a moment, composing yourself. It would have been so easy to laugh at his comment and fall back into your old ways, but you weren't about to jeopardise the mission over a bit of useless flirting. "What business?" you asked, your voice firmer than you had been expecting.

"Sweetness-"

"Don't call me that," you bit out, interrupting him before he could continue with his attempt at charming you. "What are you here for?"

Loki looked frustrated for a moment, the annoyance flashing on his face for just a second. "Must we speak business right now? I've missed you."

"I'm here to work. If you aren't going to talk business, there's no reason for me to be here," you muttered, taking a backwards step towards the door.

"Wait-" You paused, tilting your head to the side as you waited for him to continue. "I intend to free the human race," he started, looking pained as he glanced up at you.

"How?"

Loki paced back a few steps, and you raised you continued to watch him carefully. "Don't look at me like that," he uttered. "You look at me like you hate me."

"I do hate you," you told him, watching his face fall at your confession. "What were you expecting? A parade? A banner? You left me."

"I didn't want to-"

"Don't give me that crap," you bit out, shaking your head at him. "You didn't care if you hurt me."

He shook his head, moving back to the glass and placing his palm flat against it. "I wasn't given a choice. I was sent to Earth to investigate-" he paused for a moment, his eyes holding your gaze for just a second. "I would have stayed if it was my choice."

Your expression softened slightly as you moved closer to the glass, pausing when you were within touching distance. "Who made that choice?" Loki remained silent for a moment. "Please," you uttered, your voice coming out broken as tears welled in your eyes. "I need to know who made you hurt me."

"Thanos. He sent me here."

The sadness dropped from your lips in an instant, replaced by a small smile. "Wow," you uttered, shaking your head. "That was easier than I expected," you added softly.

"I don't-"

"Sweetness," you murmured, repeating his own term of endearment back to him. "I may have been blind to it before, but you've always been far too self serving to ever love me properly." You gave him a quick wink before moving away from the glass. "Thanks for the information, though. You've been a real help," you called out as you left the room, a wide smile plastered to your lips.
