A few days later, they find themselves on a school bus preparing for a cross country meet. Carson gets up from her seat to talk to Coach.

"May I ask why I'm on the boys' bus?"

"Because the girls bus was full and you're on the boy's team, and take your water bottle, you left it in the cooler last night," he responds, pointing her back to her spot.

"Who filled it?"

"I don't know, the water boy?"

She squeezes into the seat with Scott and Stiles.

"Carson this seat isn't made for three people," Stiles makes space.

"Yeah well I'm not sitting next to Jared. People would pay to be this close to me," she scoffs, taking a sip of her water.

"This is disgusting. It must be Dasani."

"Just go over the words," Scott groans.

"Anachronism."

"Something that exists out of its normal time."

"Nice. Okay, next word: Incongruous."

"Uh can you use it in a sentence?"

"Yes, yes I can. It's completely incongruous that we're sitting on a bus right now, on our way to some stupid cross country meet after what just happened. Incongruous."

"Out of place, ridiculous, absurd."

"Perfect. Next word, Darach."

"Stiles why do you have to do this?" she sighs, laying her head on his shoulder.

"Because, we need to talk about it. And we're gonna be stuck in this thing for like, five hours, so why not?" he looks at her, then back at Scott.

"There are many things that need to be spoken about that you refuse to speak about, so-"

"We're not starting this!"

"I think we are," she takes another sip.

"We will talk at a better time."

"Next word," she grabs the iPad, "Intransigent."

"Stubborn. Obstinate."

The bus rattles, causing Scott to groan in pain.

"Woah, buddy, you ok?" Stiles says, getting no response.

"We shouldn't have come. I knew it, we shouldn't have come."

"We had to. There's safety in numbers," Scott responds.

"Yeah, well, there's also death in numbers, okay? It's called a massacre, or bloodbath, Carnage, slaughter, butchery. Wow that's--" he looks at Scott, "Alright, I'm telling Coach that-"
