hitomi has a habit of falling for someone and have a lot of crushes. whenever that happens, she would indirectly confess to get a rejection so she can move on

she usually would talk to them about her liking someone and describes the crush's behaviour around her, the possibility of them getting together, right to the person that she likes

it can be risky since they'll be able to guess that hitomi was talking about them, that is, if they used their brain. despite the risk, hitomi took in the advice, a.k.a words from her crush telling her to give up on it as a word of rejection

after all, if you want to move on from someone, you'll need a solid reason to do so, and what more can beat one's crush telling them to give up on their feelings for them?

so far, all of it has been going well. if hitomi has ever felt like the crush won't be going anywhere further, she would confront them and indirectly confess. then, she would spend the day crying from the pain of being rejected, but she would be all good the day after as if she never had a crush on someone before

but she has a problem now. honda hitomi has fallen for her best friend, y/n, who she knows very well that doesn't feel the same

"hiichan!" y/n cheerfully greeted as she's nearing her friend who has been waiting for a few minutes now

"y/n ah" hitomi quietly replied as she took a glance at the girl sitting beside her, "so, what's wrong? what did you want to talk about?" the slightly older girl asked. she hasn't seen hitomi's expression yet as she was busy enjoying the cold breeze on the field

hitomi took a deep breath before letting it out, "what if i told you that i like someone?"

"what?"

better than nothing

the girl nervously gulped when she saw the confused expression drawn at y/n's face, "i like someone, that's what i mean by that"

"is there a problem with them?" the younger girl nodded her head as an answer, "that person... they don't like me back"

y/n turned her gaze to the side to see hitomi hanging her head low, showing that she's down by the fact of her crush not feeling the same as she did and y/n don't like to see hitomi being like that

"do you know them well to know their feelings towards you?"

hitomi nodded her head again slowly, "it's painfully obvious for me not to notice that"

"y/n ah, what would you do if the person you like don't like you back?" hitomi asked once she had mustered up lots of courage. she already regrets talking about this in the first place

she's scared that y/n would figure it out sooner and ended up getting rejected for real. the even worse event would be y/n not wanting to be friends with her anymore

half of her wants the girl to tell her to give up so she can move on faster without damaging their friendship. another part of her wanted the girl to told her to keep going

either way, hitomi just wanted to end this unrequited crush on her best friend. she knows very well how her feelings have got into the middle of their friendship, making it more awkward and harder for the two of them sometimes

"did they have a partner yet?" y/n asked slowly. she never liked someone before so she doesn't know how much help she could give to the troubled girl

"no" hitomi shortly replied. she can see where this will go, and she doesn't trust her voice much that it will not betray her in this kind of moment

"if it's me, i would give up if they are happy in their relationship. there's no reason for me to break the beautiful bond, right?"

hurry up, stop delaying your words
