Chapter 2.

I watched as Lance, Luke, and Mason walked down the hall of tour high school, looking at hot as ever. Except of course, Lance was hotter than any of them, but hey. He’s my fiancee, what do you expect? I saw Jane bat her eyelashes at him, as she had been doing for the past few weeks, but Lance didn’t even look her way. His eyes, it seemed, we only on me. He was watching my every move,as Luke and Lacey walked hand in hand through the hall. Mason was googly eyed at all the girls, considering he hadn’t found his mate yet, but that was his problem. Not mine. I only had eyes for Lance, who was coming this way, and he was still staring right at me.

“Give me a break.”Lilly laughed, watching as we both stared at eachother.

“Oh hush it.” I told her, as Lance walked up, and took my hand in his.

“Well, you can’t expect me, not to act this way, when the two of you never leave eachothers side. I remember a certain time, about 2 moths ago when Lance didn’t even want to go near you, and now look at you! Getting married! Don’t you think It’s a little too fast? I mean, I’ve knows Nathan since I started this school. I’ve liked him, since then and we just started going out and we’re not even getting married! I mean, seriously Sarah!”

I laughed and looked at Lilly. “Lilly. We’re not getting married for two years, at least. What’s so wrong with getting engaged, after knowing eachother for two months?”

“Uh, that fact that you think it’s love, when it really couldn’t be!”

Lance raised his eyebrow. “Are you saying that I don’t love her?”

“No. I’m saying that your confusing, lust with love.” She put in.

I smiled. “Your forgetting one certain little detail.”

She frowned, and then she sighed. “Right. Sorry. I keep forgetting about that. But still, that fact doesn’t-”

“Lilly.” I whispered, looking around to see if anyone was watching, before I grabbed her arm and led her down the hall, and around the corner, so no one could hear us.

“What?” She asked.

“Lance is a werewolf. I’m his mate. He loves me. You of all people should know that. There;s nothing that is going to change how he feels about me, or how I feel about him. Okay?”

“I know. I just want you to be sure he’s the right one for you.”

I frowned. “What has gotten into you?”

She sighed and looked at me. “I’m sorry. It’s just Sam has been hanging around Nathan, and It’s making me a little nervous.”

I frowned. “Has he been acknowledging her?”

“Yes. He’s nice, Sarah. He’s not, Lance. He doesn’t like being mean to people.”

“I know, I know. But Nathan loves you, and you know that.”

“Yeah? Then look at him right now.” Lilly whispered, her face unreadable.

I turned around and saw Nathan leaning against the lockers, Sam right next to him, and they were both laughing.

What was Nathan up to? It wasn’t like him to act like that. He was they type of guy, who knew what he wanted, know who he wanted. He would never act like this, at least I didn’t think he would. So what was up with him now? I mean, sure he was nice to people, but that was just Nathan. This.....This was different.

“Lilly. Maybe It’s just nothing.” I told her, smiling.

She half smiled, and shrugged before taking off down the hall, heading towards class.

I sighed, and walked over to where Nathan was standing, before leaning on the lockers right behind him, making enough noise to where he’d hear me.

He turned around, the smile still on his face. “Hey, Sarah. What’s up?”

“I don’t know. You tell me.” I said, glancing between Nathan and Sam.

Nathan frowned and then looked at Sam, then his eyes widened. “Oh no. Lilly. Did she see us?”

“See you? Oh, she saw more than that, Nathan.”

He swallowed. “Sam. Can you give me and Sarah a second? I’ll see you after school.”

See her after school? What was his problem? He never acted like this! This just wasn’t Nathan. No way.

“Yeah. Sure, bye Nathan. Bye Sarah.” She said, walking off.

“You have 5 seconds to explain yourself.” I told him.

“It’s not what you think.” He explained.

“Oh? Because what it looks like to me, is that your cheating on Lilly.”

“What? No! I love, Lilly.”

“Then tell me, Nathan. Why are you talking to Sam? You know she likes you!”

“I know. That’s why I’m talking to her!” Nathan told me.

“Huh? What are you talking about?”

“Listen, Sarah. Sam is up to something. I don;t know what it is, but her and Jane are planning something and I think it has something to do with you and Lilly. All I want to do is act like I’m into Sam, and see if I can figure out what it is.”

“And you can’t tell, Lilly why?”

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “It’s not that I can’t. I just think she won’t let me do it, and if she doesn’t want me to, I’ll listen to her and I won’t do it.”

“Nathan. She loves you. You know that?”

“I know.”

“Then you should want to know her opinion over everyone Else's.” I told him, walking off. not believing what he was saying.

He was hiding something. But what? Why couldn’t Nathan just tell me what it was? I thought we were friends! Maybe it was due to the fact that, Lilly was my best friend too, but that doesn’t mean what Nathan tell me, I’ll tell her. Or what she tells me, I’ll tell Nathan. Their both my best friends.

“What wrong?” Lance asked me, as he took my hand and we walked to class.

“Huh? Oh, just Nathan.”

“What about him?”

“Lance. He’s hiding something.” I told him, and I explained everything to Lance.

Lance frowned and then looked at me. “That’s weird. He loves, Lilly. You can see it in his eyes.“

“I know. That’s what confuses me.”

“Well. Let’s not think about it right now, okay? Let’s focus on getting to class on time.”

I nodded and let Lance lead me to class.

I sat down in my normal chair is Mrs. Karen’s class, which was in the back of the class where no one else could bother me. Lance sat next to me, which he had been doing since we started dating. When I first met him, he’d sat at the front of the classroom, but now he sat with me.

“Good morning, class. Before we start, I’d like to introduce a new student. So please be nice.” Mrs. Karen said, motioning behind her where a boy with light blonde hair and green eyes sat. He was kind of muscular and he looked like he could be a little shy.

“Hey, everyone. My name is Austin Myers.” Austin said, waving.

I smiled at him, and then I heard Lance growl softly beside me. I looked at him, and saw him staring at Austin, with a mixture of confusion and jealousy on his face. Jealousy? Why was he jealous?

“Lance?” I whispered, reaching over and touching his arm gently.

He didn’t answer. He just sat their staring at Austin, who was smiling at the class as he took his seat next to Layla, a girl sitting at the front of the class.

I watched Lance carefully. “Lance.”

“What?” He growled.

“What’s wrong with you?”

“Him!” Was all he manged to say, before he leaped from his chair and raced out of the classroom.

“Lance!” I cried, leaping to my feet and running after him.

I followed him as far as I could, and then watched as he stopped outside of the school, over by the street, and I watched as he stared intently at the road.

“Lance? What’s going on?” I asked gently, walking up to him.

“Sarah. You need to go inside.”

“What? Why?”

“Now!” Lance growled, before he ran off into the distance, and I couldn’t see where he went.

Lance? What was going on with him? He never snapped at me like that.

(Lance’s Pov)

Luke! Mason! I called to them, as I ran faster until my werewolf took the shape and I shifted before I could stop it.

I hadn’t meant to snap at her, but I couldn’t let her near me when I was upset. Why was I upset? What was it about that Austin kid? What did he want? I could tell just by looking at him, that he was a werewolf. I didn’t understand what he wanted. All I knew, is that I was going to have to keep Sarah away from him.

Lance? Luke asked.

I need you and Mason. I told him.

Why? Luke asked.

Sarah.  Was all I needed to say, before Luke and Mason were here.

They both looked at me, confused but then when they saw the look on my face, they frowned.

What is it?  Luke asked.

There’s this new kid. I don’t know what he wants. But he’s a werewolf, and there’s just something about him. I don’t want Sarah knowing, so let’s just keep this between us. Okay? I told them

I saw, Luke shift back into his human form and then Mason followed after. They both nodded, and raced back to school.

I shifted back into my human form, and followed after them. By the time, I made it back to school, the bell had already rang, and Sarah was walking out of the school with Lilly. When she caught my eye, she ran down the steps and towards me.

“Lance? What’s going on?” She asked.

“Nothing. Sorry I snapped at you. I’m just tired.” I told her, pulling her into my arms.

“Lance? Are you sure?” She asked, hugging me.

“I’m sure.” I told her.

She nodded and held onto me, but I didn’t mind. I was perfectly fine with holding her as well. She was my mate and I had learned to accept that fact. Like I had told myself before, I was done trying to ignore my feeling. I just let them come, and I accepted her. I loved her.
