Trying to Face the Sun

despicable system

It's hard to believe
in anything,
these days.
How do you
do it?
Trust that
once you
work hard enough,
you'll get back
what you're owed?
I've seen people
work harder
than anyone
and still end up
struggling
with even
the most
basic things.
They tell me
that hard work
is the only way
to ensure
your dreams.
But I've never
seen that
come true.
All I see
are people
carrying the
world
on their backs,
while the rich
drink and
eat snacks.
So please explain,
how my depression
is lying again,
when it's
telling me
the work
is not worth
losing my will
to live.
Can you really
touch a cloud,
when it's just
mist?
You started
off with a sprint,
and learned to fly,
already closer
to the sun,
telling me
to keep my feet
on the ground
and I'll learn to walk
and then maybe,
to run.

Fuck you
for thinking
capitalism,
out of all
possibilities,
was the right one.
