Chapter 19

"I'm sorry Ma'am," I said and shook my head. "I will not accept this anymore, I've changed my mind Miss Cortez, I'm sorry you may leave, I rather be finding an early bird employee instead employee with big brains but small discipline." She said and roll her eyes on me.

Isang matalim na salita ang tumusok sa aking puso, dahil sa sinabi niya pero mas pinili ko na lang umalis at tanggapin na akin ang kamalian dahil totoo naman, sino ba naming matinong nagapply ang one-hour malalate, feeling special!

Pinunasan ko ang luha na tumulo sa aking mukha paglabas ko ng resort, pinilit kong pigilan ang aking emosyon at huminga ng malalim. "Meron pang ibang resort Alliana wag kang mag-alala" bulong ko sa aking sarili at kinuha ang aking cellphone, isa-isa kong tinawagan ang mga nagoffer sa akin ng trabaho nong graduation ko.

"Ahm hello good morning, this is Cortez, Alliana from PRSMU University I jus want to ask if the resort offered me las----" hindi ko natapos ang sasabihin ko ng masalita na ang nasa kabilang linya.

"We're sorry Ma'am the position was already taken down by the niece of the owner, we're sorry but we'll inform you if we have any other position for hiring" sabi nito, tumango tango ako at sumagot, "Ok, thank you very much,"

"Hello, good morning this is Cortez, Alliana from----"

"We're sorry Ma'am, our resort is on a major bankrupt for the moment, we'll inform you when everything is fine," after that, the call ended.

"Good morning, Alliana Cortez the person that you send position for Market research analyst for your resort" Masigla kong bungad. "Yes, Miss Cortez Hi, the case is that the resort owner is moving to New York so the resort will be taken down after a month so the position that we sent to you was a few months ago, we didn't expect the owners' decision, we're sorry," she said, "No it's ok, thank you," I said and the call ended.

"Hello, Alliana Corte----," bago ko pa matapos ang aking sasabihin ay pinatay na agad ang tawag.

"Alliana Cortez from PR---" again I was cut by the person in the other line again, "Yes, we already expecting you to call Miss Alliana, but we're sorry to say the company has already received bad news about you from Celeste's Resorts, we're sorry" then he hangs up.

Bagsak balikat akong napasandal sa poste sa aking tabi dahil, halos lahat ng nagoffer sa akin ng trabaho ay wala. Pano na ako nito? Tiningnan ko ang aking papers at may nakitang huling resort na hindi ko pa natatawagan.

"Teka, tawagan ko pa ba? O puntahan ko na lang?" tanong ko sa aking sarili. Pero mas nagdesisyon din ako agad na puntahan na lang ito kesa sa tawagan dahil mukhang minamalas lang ako tuwing tinatawagan ko ang mga kumpanya.

"Tricycle!!" tumawag ako ng tricycle dahil ilang metro lang naman ang layo ng resort na iyon dito.

"Saan ho tayo, Ma'am?"

"Sa Ace resort and hotel po manong," sabi ko at umupo ng maayos. Inayos ko ang application ko para maayos ko itong ihaharap mamaya.

Mga ilang saglit lang ay andito na agad ako sa tapat ng resort, isa ito sa pinakasikat ng resort dito lalo na sa mga kano at dayo na pumupunta dito, "Ito ho bayad," inabot ko ang bayad at taas noong naglakad papunta sa loob ng resort.

"Hi, Alliana Cortez, I'm here to apply," sabi ko sa front desk, she quickly smiles at me and nodded, "HR office this way Ma'am," she said and pointed the way to the glass door with a plate name HR dept.

"Thank you," I said and went through the HR office, open it and enter.

"Oh my favorite OJT student, Cortez why are you here?" Miss Celestin the HR manager said as she smiles at me and let me seat on the chair in front of her table.

I was once an OJT student here at the first semester of my 4th year collage. "Ma'am want to apply as market research analyst here at your resort," diretso kong sagot.

"Oh.. that.." she said and suddenly she think, "The thing is the position is still occupied by our senior employee here Cortez, but she will be leaving for Canada, it will take two weeks for the position to be free, and don't worry I promise you, you'll get it if you want in that two weeks you'll work here as a chamber maid while your waiting... I mean if you just want?" she said, mabilis akong tumango at pumayag.

"Yes, Ma'am I'm whiling to wait and work as a chamber maid for two weeks," pursigido kong sagot.

"Ok, it's settled your hired, meet me tomorrow so you can start working as a temporary chamber maid," she said and smile at me, she gets my application form.

"Thank you very much Ma'am," I said and shake hands with her, "No problem Cortez, I know you're an asset so I will surely accept you, see you tomorrow morning ok," she said, I nodded and said goodbye to her, leave the resort and go home.

Kinabukasan maaga akong gumising at hinandaan ng almusal ang pamilya ko bago ako pumasok sa resort. Agad akong tinulungan ni Ma'am Celestin sa mga dapat kong alamin sa pagtratrabaho ko ng chamber maid, I mean alam ko naman na ito dahil nagOJT na ako dito at pinagawa na kami ng ganito pero ngayon bingyan niya lang ulit ako ng instruction dahil temporary lang naman ito.

Habang hinihintay ko ang position na inaapplyan ko. "Room 204," sambit ng head chamber at tinuro ako, agad akong umalis dala-dala ang panlinis na cart papuntang room 204.

Isang oras akong naglinis sa loob dahil mukhang nagparty ang angavail nito kagabi, puno ng kalat at mga plastic cups sa buong kwarto. "Hay sa wakas na tapos din," bulong ko ng malinis na ito.

Binuksan ko na ang pinto at hinila palabas ang cart ko pero may natamaan akong padaan at natapunan ito ng maduming tubig. "Nako sorry po Sir!!!" nagpapanik kong sambit.

"No it's ok," he said and walk like nothing happen.

Napatampal na lang ako sa aking ulo dahil sa kapalpakan! Mabilis natapos ang buong araw ko sa paglilinis ng mga kwarto at ngayon kasalukuyan na akong nakahiga sa kama ko, dumiretso ako dito paguwi dahil pagod na pagod ang katawan ko.

I reach for my phone and call Louie, because I haven't talk to him since yesterday, he texted me.

"The number you have dialed is either unattended or out of coverage area please try your call later."

"Louie," I whisper and close my eyes.

What are you doing right now?
