Prom

So we were talking about prom in French class. Someone in the class is on prom committee, and she said she couldn't give any information. She did say that it's only going to be a dinner and no dance. And everyone started complaining.

"Wait, so we can eat dinner with masks off, but we can't dance with masks on?"
You say that as if everyone will leave their masks on. (Which I said out loud and people kept talking over me, unsurprisingly. Then someone said something just about the same thing as I said, go figure.) I can guaranDAMNtee people will take their masks off while dancing.

"But prom is a right of passage!"
Is it though?

"It's a staple of every high school movie!"
How many of those movies are actually good?

"Prom is always bad."
Then why are you complaining about prom being different this year?

"Prom is so overpriced."
What did you expect? It's a private school, of course it's gonna be overpriced.

I probably wouldn't have considered going to prom even before it got crippled. Definitely not going now.
