chapter 138: be each other's rainbows

Start from the beginning

It was pouring heavily outside and Byulyi was tired and hungry. Munching away on a muffin, she glanced out of the window into the dark rainy night. People were holding on tightly to each other under shared umbrellas, running together through the rain. Byulyi's eyes landed on a guy standing in the near distance, and couldn't help but wonder if her eyes were playing tricks on her as the guy slowly began to look like Seokjin as her eyes came into focus.

He was here.

Byulyi's heart swelled with joy. She quickly put down her muffin mid-bite, her eyes glued on Seokjin as she picked up her umbrella, rose to her feet and stepped outside. The moment she was outside, the clearer she could see him - it was indeed Seokjin.

"Kim Seok-"

Byulyi stopped short, taking a step backward and putting down her hand she had put up to wave at him. The smile vanished from her face as she spotted the girl walking next to him under their umbrella.

Who was that girl?

"You don't have to worry about it anymore, Yongsun-ah," Seokjin stopped suddenly and looked at the girl, gently patting her on the head. "If you ever encounter such a problem in the future, I'll-"

Seokjin stopped short at that moment, his eyes widening in surprise because Yongsun took a step forward and threw his arms around his neck. Byulyi let out an audible gasp, and quickly clamped both hands over her mouth to hide the sound.

"I should never have let you go before-" Yongsun pulled away and looked up at Seokjin. "I regret it, Kim Seokjin."

"I-" Seokjin's hand trailed up to his cheek, his eyes darting around aimlessly on the ground. "I..."

"Do you still have feelings for me?" Yongsun asked, her eyes gleaming. "I know I was the one who left you years ago... but there wasn't a single day in my life that I didn't regret my decision. Seeing you yesterday made me afraid, Seokjin-ah - I was afraid that I'd fall for you again... and I was right. But I'm not ashamed of it anymore - as long as I can have you in my life once again, I don't care about whether you can provide for me or not. I will provide for you, I still really, really love you."

"Yongsun-ah..." Seokjin pursed his lips. "I-"

At that very moment, Yongsun took a step forward and planted a small peck on Seokjin's cheek.

"You still like me, don't you?" Yongsun asked hopefully as Seokjin pushed her away gently but only after she had kissed him. "That's why you came to look for me over these past two days-"

Byulyi dropped the umbrella in her hand with a loud clack, causing both Seokjin and Yongsun to turn around and look at her. Seokjin's eyes widened in shock the moment he saw her.

"I- I- I-" Byulyi stammered, not knowing what to do with her hands, or her eyes, or any other part of her body, basically - she felt out of place. "I- I- um- I-"

"M-Moon Byulyi-" Seokjin's eyes darted towards Yongsun momentarily before looking at Byulyi once more. "What- I-"

"I- I didn't-" Byulyi was flustered to the core and wanted to flee the scene as soon as she could. "I- um- I- I wasn't-"

Seokjin let go of Yongsun's had at once. "Byulyi-ya, it's not- I'm not-"

"I didn't see anything-" Byulyi shook her head, her eyes glazed as she picked up her umbrella from the ground and turned towards the opposite direction from where they stood. "You guys continue."
