Talagang nag-punta pa kami ni Kalvin sa Rome para bumili ng engagement ring. Ito ang pinakasikat sa mundo, Roman's Ancient Jewelry. Kalvin and I decided to propose.
Kahit hindi pa ulit kami ni Karie, I love her too much to wait for that moment I ask her to marry me. We found the perfect rings, they cost a soul. Lalo na ang kay Jessica, kilala talaga siya ni Kalvin.
We wandered off then went to our hotel. Dito muna kami ni Kalvin for our work. Uuwi din naman kami agad.
"When did you know you want to marry my sister?" Seryosong tanong ko sa kaniya.
"When I got tired of fighting with her." He sat on the bed then sighed. "Napapagod na ako, gusto kong sukuan si Jessica pero alam mo?" Umiling ako. "Kung susukuan ko siya parang sinayang ko lang ang bagay na iningatan ko ng madaming taon. I can't wait anymore, dude. Mahal ko si Jessica and that's why I want to marry her. Because I love her."
Nginitian ko siya tapos tinapik ang balikat niya. "I'm proud of you, dude."
"Eh ikaw? Bakit gusto mo siyang pakasalan eh wala pa kayo?" He asked.
"Because I love her too." I said. "Nililigawan ko pa lang siya, I can already see how she can be the best Mrs. Kariessa Arnolds. I want my kids to call her Mommy, I want to grow old with that woman. I won't waste my time, I'll offer her to marry me."
"Sige kunwari ako si Karie." Tumikhim siya tapos inayos ang sarili. "Why would you want to marry me?"
I gathered my confidence then started talking. "Because you're that woman no man should ever waste. Ikaw ang tipo ng babaeng hindi ko alam kung bakit pero hindi ako nag-sasawang masaktan para sa'yo. I can't live without you and I don't want to live without you. I'm happy with you, I grow with you, I mature with you, I understand with you. You let me grow on my own even if I depend on you. You don't spoil me and that's one of the many reasons I am madly and deeply in love with you. All I'm saying is I love you, and I see you as a strong woman. My strong woman."
"Dude...it's time to propose." He said. "All I wanted to hear was you love her but you said more than that. I know how it feels to fall."
"Then let's finish work and propose to our ladies."
So she said she's my girlfriend now. I stayed at the graveyard to tell Tito Endrio what I was planning to do. I wanted to let him know first. He's the first man of her heart.
"Hey Tito...I need to tell you something." I said as I cleaned up the grave. "I wanted to propose to Karie." Biglang humangin. "Don't worry Tito. Aalagaan ko na talaga siya. Hindi na ako matatakot. Hindi na ako magiging duwag sa ibang tao, I won't hurt her anymore. Not anymore."
As I walked to my car, I heard someone. It was like whisppering yet again yelling.
"Save her from the dark for me." Luminga ako sa paligid pero wala. I'm alone, I suddenly looked up then smiled.
"Until the stars stop shining." I whisppered then went to my car.
I drove home. The house me and Jessica grew up in. Sana andito pa sila, lagi kasing si Manang Hillary ang nadadatnan ko. I may be lucky, andito nga sina Mom at Dad.
"Mom, Dad." Pukaw ko sa atensiyon nila.
Tumingin sa'kin si Mom. "It's about time you show up. Where is she? Asan ang daughter in law ko?"
"Mom, chill. I haven't offered it yet." Umupo ako sa gitna nila tapos tinignan ang mata nila. "Todd Arnolds, Joriella Arnolds...I'm happy. I'm contented. I'm me when I'm with her. I'd like to ask for your blessing to marry her."
Umiling si Mom. "Give me one word that describes how much you want to marry her."
I can't believe how her mood switched so fast. "Love." I answered. "I love her, Mom." Ngumiti siya tapos tumingin kay Dad.
"Ang bilis lumaki ng mga baby ko." Dad nodded then Jess suddenly ran downstairs. "My baby girl is also getting married. Paano ba 'yan...mag-aabang na ako ng mga baby sa future."
"Mom malayo pa." Jessica said then sat next to us. "Can we go on a trip before me and Kalvin get married? Just the four of us. I want to experience what it's like to travel with your family again."
"Aww, namiss ba ni Jessica ang dating Arnolds?"
"Shut it Kuya." Pero niyakap ako. She really missed us.
After work I decided to go to my unit para mabigyan ng privacy si Karie. Mamaya na ako mag-popropose, I want to do it on midnight when I'm done with work. Mag-papaalam pa ako sa family niya.
I opened my messenger then called Koral. I just finished showering and I'm working again. Buti at sinagot ni Koral, she was with Kuya Kal.
"Kuya Jonas."
"Hey can you tell Tita I have to tell you guys something." Agad namang tinawag ni Kuya Kal si Tita Amber. "So...huwag kayong magugulat."
"Ano iyon hijo?"
"Tita Amber...Kuya Kalfred at Koral." I paused for a while. "Can I have your blessing on marrying Karie?"
"Hindi pa ba kayo engaged?" Naguguluhang tanong ni Kuya Kal.
"H-Hindi pa." I said. "She wasn't wearing a ring yet."
"Ang bagal mo naman, Jonas." Tita Amber giggled. "You don't need to ask us kasi hindi kami tututol pero I'm glad you did. Si Karie, Kalfred at Koral namulat sila sa nakaraan. Sa madaling salita, mga sinauna ang tipo nila. Pati ugali at pag-iisip ay sinauna, we're happy you respect us as her family."
"I respect everyone she loves." I respect her for all I care. "Sige po, Tita. May aalukin na ako ng kasal."
"Kapag tumanggi, gayumahin mo." Koral chuckled.
"Sige. She'll tell you what her answer is, I told her na bibisitahin ko siya ngayong gabi."
"Good luck, Jonas." Kuya Kal said then smiled.
I got up then went to her door. I knocked three times then she opened the door. She looks so beautiful even if she's sleepy.
