I was holding you in my armswhile you took your shallow breaths
you were wrapped in a bloody towel
and my moms favourite blanket
I ran out to you
picking up your weak body from the
ground after the fight
you were shaking
and all bloody
tears were spilling from my eyes
I was scared
but I kept whispering comforting
words in your ear
I remember the sound of you breathing
the wheezing noises you let out
I counted
1...
a pause
2...
a longer pause
3...
and that was your last
you stopped right after the third
you were no longer shaking
you just went quiet and still in my arms
i cried
scared and heartbroken
I was alone in the house
I don't recall what happened after
I think I was in shock
you were too
I remember looking at your gum
it was white
which meant you were in shock
but i do comfort myself with knowing
that you did not die alone
I was there with you my friend
I was there when you took your last breath
I was there the moment you died in my arms
