*Y/N POV*
I'm sitting at a coffee shop table, reading my favourite book while listening to music through my white headphones. The book is about german gods and myths. My history teacher recommended it to me when the 'God's and Myth's' club was cancelled. If I remember it right, it was in high school, so a few years ago.
I of course read it more then a hundred times already but it somehow still makes the little hairs on my neck stand up everytime the chapter about odin and his sons appears.
The Arsen are a beautiful and nice civilisation.
But one thing you did not understand even when you read the book so often that you know every word in it by heart.
Why did Odin take lofis' son? Didn't the ice-qub did it's job?
Right befor your eyes catch the next chapters name, someone runs against the table you are sitting at and kicks it over.
You jump at this action and are about to scold the shit out of him as you recognise that he's not the only one running for his life. Your eyes finally register the chaos right in front of the table you were sitting a mere secound ago without a worry in your life.
People are screaming -It seems- and pushing themselves as far away from something you don't see. You hesitantly take your headphones out of your ears and immediately loud commotion meets your ear shell.
As the street above you gets swallowed by darkness you automatically fall to your knees and hold your ears close because of the woman infront of you screaming her lungs out.
WHAT THE HECK?!
A giant flying robot Moskito snakes itself through the air above your heads with loud mechanical sounds leaving the metallic plates.
Two fucking secounds....I sat there and read my book for two damn secounds! How can this happen in such a short time?!
I lift myself up onto my feet and gather my book befor storming into the direction of the swarm of scared people.
Panting and with a fastening heart beat I beat myself up to keep going as I pass a demolated grey car. The front of it is smashed into a light bar and a woman with sever injuries cries hysterically while trying to get a little child out of the backseat.
As I'm already ahead of it the paniced attempts of the woman to cry out for help, get me and I turn on my heels to run against the flow of people.
"My son....! Help! Someone! Please!", the woman with bleeding head and scratched arms and legs cries, holding her sons upper body while his legs are stuck in the backseat of the car.
I let my things fall to the ground as I reach them and throw myself into the back of the drivers seat. The woman understands and pulls the boy to her chest. Within a few more pushes the boys legs are freed and the woman clenches him to her chest with red cried eyes.
"Thank you so much!", she says as she hurries away.
My body feels weak from all the workout and I let it sink to the floor beside the car, gathering enough oxygen to get up again.
The whole commotion, the loud sounds and the adrenalin pumping through my veins make my sight blurry and my oxygen ways getting smaller.
A voice can be heard beside me and something heavy crashes down near the car I'm leaning on. My gaze snaps in the said direction and my eyes register -more or less- a big Green figure and something metallic.
Finally the Avengers are here....aren't they?
I pretty sure can't really recognised anything clearly because of the adrenaline.
"You have to go! Now!", a female voice shouts at me and urges me to get up by grabbing my forearm and dragging me onto my feet.
I'm about to oblige when I remember, that my favourite book still lies somewhere near the car.
"M-My book....", I speak up but don't even get to hear it myself. Without thinking about what I'm doing, I rip my arm out of the bright red haired woman's and fall back to my knees.
With fast manoeuvres I somehow manage to crawl to my book and press it against my rip cage.
With more effort than I would have brought up, I stumble onto my feet and crash directly into a hard surface.
Without even looking up I turn and try to run, but my feet give up under the stress and I'm falling back to the ground.
I close my eyes and press the book more aggressively against my chest and finally after eternity I feel myself hit the hard surface.
But not with my face like I thought I would.
"Let her go, Brother! She's just a civilian", I hear a deep voice say and take a peek to understand what's going on.
To my displeasure I find myself back to chest to -how it appears- a villian. Thor and the other Avengers are a few feet away and all looking at me.
With an outstretched hand, like to pat a horse or a dangerous animal, Thor approaches me and the someone behind me.
"Just...Let the maiden leave", the blond barbie, who is coming closer, says.
That makes you lightly blush.
Thor...the god of Thunder, just said to me I was a Maiden!
"One more step Brother, and the girl dies", a deep and smooth voice threatens behind me and the person shifts my whole body to lean on his.
I see the way Thors' expression changes and he steps back while sinking his arm.
"It's okay, just leave her", he tries again and looks hopefully to the man behind me.
All the Avengers stand still and wait for any movement while looking at the scene...scared? If the Avengers are scared...I visibly gulp...than what should I be?!
A hot breath ghosts against the sensitiv skin of my cheekbone as the man behind me lowers his head.
"You'll come with me, love. And I will make sure to reward your obedience", he whispers in a husky voice, sending shivers down my spine and making all my little neck and arm hairs stand up threatingly.
But something deep down makes me nod without hesitation, as if I would trust this unknown man.
