Kacey's pov:

It was Monday morning and Chelsea came over to my house.
"Oh and Max phoned me last night,"

"Did you speak to him?"

"Yeah,"

"Seriously, why?"

"We're friends,"

"With benefits,"

"That was one time!"

"Well you're teaching him science today so we'll see how that goes,"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Come on, it's not like nothing is going to happen between you two,"

"Nothing is going to happen!"

"I wouldn't be so sure about that,"

"Stop, we're just friends that's it,"

"Why would you be friends with him?"

"Why not?"

"Because he's not a good person, he'll be nice one second then break your heart the next, it's what people like him do!"

"You don't know him, how can you say that when you don't know someone!"

"You're arguing with me over Max Mills?!"

"I'm not arguing, I was just saying,"

"Well, don't get close with him,"

"You're making it seem like he's the devil or something,"

"Well he basically is,"

"BUT YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HIM!"

"Wow, you know what?" "If you're going to shout out at me, just because I'm looking out for you, I'll just leave,"

"Leave. I don't care," I looked away from her, instantly regretting the words that came out of my mouth. I watched as my best friend  walked out of my house, only looking back once and I saw the hurt in her eyes. What did I just do?

Soon after, I started walking to school, on my own, when Max walked up to me and said, "Hi,"

"Hi,"

"How come you're not walking to school with Chelsea?"

I shrugged my shoulders.

"Did you guys fall out?"

"Yeah,"

"Oh, how come?"

"You,"

"Me?"

"Yeah, she hates me for being friends with you, and we had an argument, she says you're a bad person and I should stay away from you,"

"Oh, I didn't mean to cause any trouble,"

"it's okay,"

"it's not though, you can't just fall out with your best friend for me,"

"I didn't want to, she just has this bad opinion about you, but she doesn't know you,"

"Lots of people have bad opinions about me,"

"I don't,"

"Really?"

"Yeah, I think you're pretty cool,"

"Haha, but will you try and sort things out between you and Chelsea,"

"I don't know,"

"You have to,"

"I...okay,"

"I don't want to come between you guys,"

"Like you'd care," I said not knowing where the words were coming from,"

"Why wouldn't I?"

"You've never cared about anything or anyone before, so why now?"

"I....," we walked the rest of the way in awkward silence. Once we got to school, I tried apologising, "Max, I didn't mean what I said before,"

"It's ok,"

"It's really not,"

"It honestly is,"

"Okay, see you in class," I smiled.

"Bye," He smiled back.
