The Night Children

His time is spent in darkness,

the moon; his only friend,

the day is ruled by monsters,

until the orb descends.

The sun drops dead and the night sky looms

above his head, as bright stars bloom.

The twisted demons flee and hide,

leaving the lost and blind behind,

revelling in the vast, empty spaces,

are the hollow eyes of ghostly faces.

These children fear the sunrise, the intruder of night

the murderer of darkness, is piercing light.
