"A pleasure." Mr. Horne said smoothly, while kissing the back of my hand.

"Alexander!" I heard someone exclaim from somewhere behind me. A young girl, maybe 14-years-old ran up to Alexander, tugging on his arm. "You promised me the next dance, brother."

I smiled. "And who might you be?" I asked politely.

She turned to me and smiled brightly. "My name is Elyn, Elyn Horne, I'm very pleased to meet you,

Miss." She curtsied. She was so cute, like a little doll.

"If you would excuse me, Miss Benjamin, I did promise my sister the next dance, if I don't do it,

I'll have to hear about it all the way home." I chuckled.

"I understand." I murmured. Elyn was already tugging him otward the dance floor. "Come on."

She insisted.

I turned to search for somthing to drink when I heard Alexander call out to me. I turned to look at

him. "But I would like to continue our conversation at dinner, if you would be so kind."

I nodded, "Of course." Perhaps I've made a new friend. Though I knew it probably wasn't wise to

make any more friends when I am trying to search for a way home, which it pretty difficult without

the internet and a cellphone. I know I could just ask around, they would think I was nuts. And I

doubt any book store would carry such titles but it seemed like my only real option.

Alexander turned out to be quite the charming young gentleman. I was amazing about how laid-back and carefree he was around people, in this time period I thought it was impossible to be that way, especially men.

I caught Arabella smirking at the two of us out of the corner of my eye, there wasn't a doubt in my mind that she thought she had sucessfully matchmade us. What she didn't know was that I wasn't the type of girl to fall in love  simply over a perfect smile or well told joke. And I was trying to remain slightly distant, I didn't need to get attached to any of these people, it'll only hurt more when I leave. I missed my mother and my sisters terribly. And I know they were probably looking for me frantically, heaven only know what measure my mother would take to ensure my safe return, she was crazy like that.

My feet were numb by the time we returned from the party, I ended up enjoying it more than I had thought, Alexander being most of the reason. And Elyn, she was so sweet.
