Chapter 9

"Ninong!" Lexine said as she runs to me. I knelt down and welcomed her in my arms.

"What happened? Why were you left by Mang Odie?" I asked.

"Kasi po I was at the library eh. I forgot na it's Friday pala. Haha." she replied. "Where's mommy?"

"She's still in the office. She asked me to fetch you kasi she's still in a meeting daw."

"Oh okay. Ninong, can we go somewhere? Don't tell mommy please?" aniya.

"Huh? Why? You're mommy will get mad if we go without her permission."

"Not if we keep it as a secret. Come on na ninong. Let's go na!"

"Where are we going ba?" I asked as she drags me to my car.

"Let's go to the mall!" she said. I raised my eyebrows and looked at her.

"Why?"

"Kasi po Teacher Julie and Teacher Frencheska accompanied me eh. Kaya po I want to give them a gift. Please? Let's buy something for them!"

"Are you sure? I think it's part of their job naman to accompany students eh." I told her but she shook her head.

"No ninong. I want to give them gifts. Kasi po they treated me ice cream kanina. Tapos po they were making me laugh. Kaya po please? Please. Please. Please. Please. Please?" she pleaded.

I heaved a deep sigh then nodded slowly. As if I can convince her to go home. This kid always get what she wants.

"Okay fine. But we have to make it fast ha? Papagalitan tayo ng mommy mo." I said.

"Yeheeeey!! Okay ninong."

We did went to the mall and she dragged me to different stores, looking for things she can give Anne and her co-teacher.

"Ninong, what should I give them?" she asked while we're at the bookstore.

"Why don't you just give them pens? Or notebooks?"

"But ninong, they're not kids anymore."

"Yes I know, princess. But they're teachers so it's still okay to give them those things." I said.

"What about we give them dresses na lang?" she suggested.

"We don't know their size, baby." I said. Actually I know Anne's size. I've seen her body. I was the one who took off her clothes...

"Ninong?" I was startled when she tugged my arm.

"Yes?"

"Let's buy their dress na po?" she asked. I nodded slowly and she dragged me out of the bookstore and into a clothes' shop.

"Good afternoon sir." the saleslady said.

"Hello! Can we buy pretty dresses here?" Lexine asked her.

"Of course. This way please." she ushered us to the dress section of their shop and Lexine started rummaging through their wide collection of casual dresses.

"Uhm... Just choose two, Lexine." I said.

"Sir, para po ba sa wife niyo?" the saleslady asked. I snickered then shook my head.

"No. It's for her teachers." I replied as I nodded at Lexine. "Can you help her choose two dresses? Give her a size 0." I said and went to their accessories section.

I looked for necklaces and picked up two simple ones. They're both gold in color. The first one has a heart pendant while the other one has a feather pendant.
