Why? They don't know.
All they know is Jeno needs a mate, He's an omega afterall (IS THAT A THING? 💀) and Jaemin is the only one who can take that spot. Problem is, not only is Jaemin an asshole, but Jeno's really scared of the Big Bad Wolf of their pack.
