I woke up.
My vision was blurred.
"Tres." Elliot said.
He was looking over me, and I slowly stirred.
"Where- Where am I?" I asked.
"Tres." Elliot said through tears, he began to cry, and he hugged me.
I looked at him confused. And awkwardly held my arms at my side while he hugged me, and said, "What happened?"
Elliot looked at me somberly, he picked up my arm carefully, and showed it to me. My arm was wrapped in bandages, and my sleeve was pushed up. My shoes were on the ground, and my headphones were sitting next to me. I looked into Elliot's large amber eyes, his somber, heartfelt, sincere look. I remembered everything.
"Tres." Elliot said, still crying.
"Did you get any sleep?" I asked half jokingly.
"No..." Elliot said, looking downward.
"Elliot..." I said exasperated.
He smiled at me guiltily. I gave him a sad smile. I attempted to hop out of the bed, but when I tried to push off with my arms, I winced in pain.
"Here." Elliot said, lifting me off the ground.
I then said, "Did we get the ink connector?"
"Yeah, it's still in the car." Elliot said.
He grabbed me, and helped me balance.
I stood up straight.
"Should we go?" I asked.
"Well, I can leave the bill for the doctors, but I don't know if you're ready to fight again." Elliot said.
"This isn't just sometime when we can stop when getting hurt and rest." I said.
"But you need to rest." Elliot said.
"And you do too." I argued.
He chuckled, and looked away for a moment.
I smiled, and then stopped myself.
"Well, either way, we should get going." I said, walking for the door.
He grabbed my shoulder and said, "You still need to put your shoes on."
I laughed at myself guiltily, and then stopped myself again.
I sat back down on the seat, and tied my shoes back on, and grabbed my headphones.
Elliot smiled at me, and we walked out the door.
We walked to a desk and Elliot began talking to the woman behind it.
"We're wondering if she could get cleared early." Elliot said.
"Oh my, you're the one who got shot. Yes?" The woman asked me.
She looked no older than 16. She had long, cut, dark purple tentacles, fair skin, and grey eyes. I think we needed her.
"What's your name?" I asked her.
"Evelyn. And you're Tres. Correct?" She said in a mature voice.

She was obviously younger than she acted, as I looked at her she then said, "How did you even get that wound

"We'd rather not explai-" Elliot began, but I glared at him quickly.
"Give us just a minute." Elliot said, we walked over to a corner and Evelyn worked on her computer.
"She could be helpful." I said quietly to Elliot.
"Do you think she's up for it?" Elliot asked.
"Well she's still alive, and in this apocalypse." I said below a whisper.
"Are you sure?" Elliot asked, "We can't just go randomly recruiting people."
"She's the one who helped me, right?"
"Yeah."
"Then she's definitely trustworthy enough."
"Okay, if you say so."
Elliot and I walked back up to the desk.
"We can trust you?" I asked her.
"Yes." Evelyn responded.
"Are you up for it, not just the secret, but the job?" Elliot asked her.
"What? What do you mean?" she asked.
"We are part of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, and we are trying to fight whatever the epidemic that has decreased and sickened the population." I said, "We were attempting to find a remedy. And I got, well- shot."
"Wow, so it's pretty risky. Are you sure it's safe?" she asked.
"We've actually never had someone ask that, surprisingly. But yes, it is risky. But you save lives everyday, isn't that risky?" Elliot said.
She nodded in silence, "What does this job require?"
"It's basically like Turf War, but- less of a sport." I said, playing with my headphones.
"This time, they just so happened to have real guns, and yes, you could get sanitized. But you have a larger chance of getting sanitized if you sit here and don't take action." Elliot said.
"Okay." Evelyn said, getting up from her chair.
"Ready?" Elliot asked.
Evelyn nodded, and I smiled at Elliot.

Evelyn nodded, and I smiled at Elliot.
...

We walked over to Captain and Marina.
"New recruit? Good job 3." Captain said.
Evelyn walked over and shook Captain's hand. Evelyn was extremely polite, and looked at Marina.
"Marina, this is Evelyn." Elliot said, "I think she's now Agent 13."
Captain nodded.
Marina squealed and hugged her, and Evelyn winced in awkwardness.
I smiled and then said, "We've got the ink connector, what now?"
"Let me see." Captain said. I handed him the tube of ink.
"No. Dear cod, no. This is only one part." Captain said.
Elliot and I sighed.
"What now?" Elliot asked.
"Onto the next piece." I said, "Where is it?"
"Just about to look it up." Marina said, typing on her phone.
We waited there in silence. Moments like these gave me time to think about Isaac, and how it all happened so suddenly. I liked Isaac, and wanted him to come back, oh so badly. I hated to think about the fact that if I had died, almost everyone else would have too, our generation forgotten. More importantly, Isaac and his upbeats, wouldn't ever come out of the control they're in.
"Here." Marina said, pointing to a spot on her phone, "We'll have Evelyn go through training while you're gone, okay?"
Elliot and I nodded.
"I'll text you the location." Marina said.
Elliot and I then headed back to the car.
"Weird. The rain stopped." Elliot said.
"Yeah."I said, concerned.
I had a weird theory, that all of this was connected. Well, okay, not weird, but intriguing. I looked over at Elliot, and he was looking at me back. He knew what I was thinking. There was a reason that I was the one that was shot.
