Kill me softly - Minsung

Chapter 19

This was so stupid. He was so stupid. And Jung-Ho. And Hyunjin. 

Minho was angry, at all of them. But probably most at Hyunjin. Hyunjin and his stupid irresistible smile. That him being angry at Hyunjin was only a way of coping so that he wouldn't have to actually admit that is was just as much his fault as is was anyone else' wasn't something Minho was going to admit soon. 

Instead, Hyunjin was Minho's victim. Stupid Hyunjin who persuaded him into going out with him. What did it leave Minho with? Right, a date. A freaking date with Jisung! 

Minho ruffed his hair as he sat over his files, a mug of milky beige coffee next to him, almost untouched. He tried working on his case but he just couldn't focus. He was so stupid. 

Truth be told, Minho wasn't entirely sober last night. Sure he wasn't wasted but he definitely was a little bit tipsy. You could hardly recognize it if you'd only hear him though as his ability to speak properly was one of the last things that got affected by alcohol. Quite contrary to Hyunjin who was already slurring his words after like two drinks. 

Minho didn't know what had gotten into him. In the last few weeks, he got more and more incautious and with that, his life got more in more in danger. And now that. He asked Jisung out. That wasn't only something that was already doomed before it actually happened but that also got Jisung in unnecessary danger.   

The papers of his case still laid on his desk in front of him but the letters seemed to float around, the words didn't make sense. There was this one detail which was still missing as to who this person was that Minho had to kill and he just couldn't figure out what it was. But if he couldn't figure it out at a normal state of mind he'd especially not be able to figure it out now, his mind all over the place. 

Minho took a sip of his cold coffee and frowned at its taste. He pushed his chair away from the table let it roll to wherever gravity would pull it to and sat there for a while. Watching out of the window above his bed, contemplating. Eventually, he took out his phone. 

"Ah damn, why are you up already?", Hyunjin's coarse voice appeared at Minho's ear. 

"I hate you. I did something incredibly stupid.", Minho was still looking out of the window, his gaze glued on the sky. 

"Again? What is it this time?", Minho heard dishes tinkling and water running. Seemed like Hyunjin needed a coffee. 

"I might - Wait what the hell do you mean with 'again'?", Minho usually was a rational thinker and not really known for stupid impulsive decisions.

"Damn don't immediately feel so attacked. You just... did do some questionable stuff the last time regarding that you are an assassin.", Minho frowned. He came here to tell Hyunjin about his problems instead he got attacked like this. 

"And what do you mean by that?", he pouted. 

"Weell... You went after that guy you only met for like 5 minutes in that club, you got attacked, your troop killed that one guy, yeah I know of that but you could have told me you know? You threw someone off a roof-", Minho interrupted him there. 

"There was no other way of getting out of that - But that's not the point! If you just wanna tell me about all my mistakes then sorry but I'm gonna hang up cause I don't need your negativity in life.", Minho knew that actually Hyunjin was right, but his pride was bigger than you might think.

"Okay, sorry Minho but - I just - you seem to be getting a bit careless. I know you don't have a long anymore so just try to lie low for a while. For your own good.", that's the thing. Hyunjin really only meant well. 

"I'll try.", Minho mumbled. 

"But now to the stupid thing, you wanted to tell me?", he heard Hyunjin taking a sip from his coffee. 

"Well, you see that kinda throws everything you just told me out of the window again.", Hyunjin just sighed. 

"Why did I figure that already?", Minho bit his lip. 

"I kinda... asked Jisung out?", he mumbled really quickly but Hyunjin caught it. 

"You did - as like a date?", at least Hyunjin said 'as like a date' and not 'as in going out-going out'. Minho couldn't help but smile as he remembered Jisung's embarrassment. Now is not the time Minho!

"Yeah, as in like a date.", Minho dragged the words out and as an answer, he got a smacking sound. Did Hyunjin freaking facepalm at Minho?

"What - Minho? You know how dangerous that is right?", he emphasized the 'know'. 

"Yes of course!", as if Minho wasn't constantly worried about Jung-Ho's people and opponents anyway.

"I mean, I did kind of tell you to build a life after the assassin life and meet someone but I didn't mean so quickly and so serious.", Hyunjin sounded kinda lost. Or done with Minho. Probably both. 

"Well, blame you for getting me drunk.", Minho huffed spinning slowly in his desk chair.

"How the hell did I get you drunk?", now he sounded offended. "All I did was asking you if you'd go out with me, actually thinking you'd say no because you're a coward when it comes to going out, but you agreed so don't you dare to make this my fault!", technically, Minho knew that Hyunjin was right, but accepting that would mean that he'd also have to accept that it was completely his own fault that he asked Jisung out. 

"Well, but you know what they say right? Drunk words are sober thoughts.", Hyunjin added but it only made Minho growl. "I know you care about him Minho. Just please be careful. Maybe even tell him that your job doesn't enable you to have a relationship right now and that you have to wait or something like that.", if it only were that easy. 

"I just don't want him to get hurt.", Minho mumbled. 

"Nobody wants to hurt the people they love, but somehow we keep end up doing it anyway.", Minho could only fathom how much they'd actually hurt each other.

Oof that's to fluff and Minsung being cute with each other. 

Sorry but I'm a sucker for slow burn and angst lmao. 

Anyway, you will get your date chapter just be patient I want it to be ~chef's kiss.  (if that's gonna work out with my writing though? idk but anyway)
