"幸運を (good luck)!" Kairi's mom shouted from the car making the petite boy flinch in embarrassment as some of the boys turned their heads to see where the yell came from.

Kairi only gave his mom a thumbs up before shuffling his way towards the field, subconsciously looking for his friends who were also trying out today. But as he neared the group of boys he saw Mattia and Alejandro no where in sight so Kairi just sat down on the bleachers instead.

"Hey, I'm Alvaro!" A voice suddenly came from the small boys left side and he turned to see another petite boy smiling at him brightly.

"Oh hi. I'm...I'm Kairi." He replied quietly and Alvaro flashed him a sheepish grin. "Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you, I just thought I'd sit with you since you were alone."

"Oh no you're not bothering me I'm just...not really good at talking to new people is all."

"Oh," Alvaro trailed off as he thought about what to say next, "well that's okay because I'm really good at talking to new people so it works." He said enthusiastically making Kairi grin.

"So I'm guessing you're trying out for varsity too?" He asked softly, receiving a feverish nod from the older boy.

"Mhhm. If I get in it'll be my second year." Alvaro replied with a smile on his face before he glanced around the field, his expression going grim. "Oh for fucks sake."

Kairi followed his new friends' (well at least he hoped so) line of sight to see Alejandro and Mattia walking onto the field and his grin automatically widened. Sticking his arm up in the air, Kairi waved his hand feverishly as he tried to get the pairs attention. Alvaro noticed this and immediately put the boys arm down.

"Dude what're you doing?"

"What do you mean? I'm trying to get their attention so they can come sit with us?" The small boy explained in confusion, not understanding why Alvaro seemed so desperate to ignore his close friends.

"But they're mean..." The latter almost whined, quietly and Kairi couldn't help but frown. "What're you talking about? Alejandro and Mattia are some of the nicest people I've ever met!" He defended but was only met with Alvaro's disapproving expression.

"Yeah...to their friends." The older boy paused for a second before looking at the boy sympathetically. "Look—I get that you're new here Kairi...but Ale and Mattia are kind of known for being rude to other people...well mostly Mattia but Alejandro entertains it." He suddenly glanced up to see the pair coming up to them.

"All I'm saying is, be careful. I'm sure that they actually really like you and stuff but don't let them turn you into a bully too."

The brunette looked down at his lap as he thought about his friends words. I guess he had noticed the weird looks on people's faces as he walked down the halls with the boys but he never thought much about it; he had just guessed that the people here don't see asian people often. Which was quite the lame excuse as there were many asian kids in New Jersey.

"Hey Kai..." The boy snapped his head up just as Mattia glanced over at Alvaro, a grimace making its way to his face. "The hell are you doing over here with him?" Mattia asked, disgust clear in his voice.

"Dude." Alejandro muttered before shooting the younger a warning glance to which Mattia just rolled his eyes. Kairi frowned at this exchange and looked at Alvaro who had his head down.

"He's my new friend." The small boy said with confidence before throwing an arm around Alvaro's shoulder, a thing Alejandro and Mattia often did with him. "Don't be so mean." Kairi's voice slightly wavered when Mattia narrowed his eyes at him but even still he kept his arm around Alvaro's shoulder.

Ale chuckled nervously, gently wrapping his hand around Kairi's wrist before pulling him up from the bleachers, the smaller's arm falling off of Alvaro's shoulder in the process. "We gotta talk to you for a sec," he paused briefly as he glanced at the other small boy on the bleachers. "Good luck, Alvaro."

The boy only nodded before looking up at Kairi with glossy eyes. "Maybe I'll see you later?"

"You definitely well. We can exchange numbers next time." Kairi replied, his lips curling into a small smile. "See you, Al!" He said before the trio walked away, two out of three walking away with a relaxed expression.

Of course besides Mattia who looked like he wanted to punch something. But honestly Kairi didn't see what the big deal was; Alvaro seemed like a really nice guy and not someone who could personally make anyone as angry as Mattia was right now.

"What was the deal with you guys? Alvaro seems like such a nice guy!" Kairi voiced his thoughts as he was genuinely confused at the negativity towards his new friend.

"Yeah well you don't know him, Kairi." Mattia snapped back at him in a low voice making the smaller boys eyes widen and Alejandro sigh.

"Calm down dude, he just met him. Cut Kai some slack." Alejandro defended and Kairi couldn't help but blush at that (along with the new nickname that Ale smoothly let pass his lips).

The brunette looked up at Mattia who walked on the left side of him, eyeing the younger boys jaw that was clenched quiet tightly. After a moment of silence from the Italian he finally spoke up. "Yeah you're right," looking down at Kairi apologetically he continued "I'm sorry Kairi...you dont know what happened so I shouldn't have snapped on you like that."

The older swallowed thickly before a small smile graced his face. "Don't worry about it Mattia! I know you didn't mean any harm—it's just...is there a reason why I shouldn't be friends with him or something?" He asked softly, a bit cautiously just in case it was a overly sensitive topic.

The other two looked at each other with a pointed expression as though they were having their own silent conversation before Mattia sighed. "Basically the three of us used to be really good friends...me and Alvaro especially. But then I started catching feelings—and when I confessed..."

"He outed me to the whole entire school."
