Denmark was stated to be the exact opposite of how he presents himself.
He presents himself as the happiest nation in the world. This makes him a nation that is dying on the inside. He shuts himself out to everyone but the rest of the Scandinavians. Although, they don't know of the depressing part of the "happy" country.
One day, Norway was on his way over to his friend's house. Denmark forgot about it completely. When he got to his house, he found Denmark sitting on his bed, crying his eyes out. Norway hadn't been able to get him to say what happened, or stop crying.
Present
"Denmark shh stop crying." I tried to comfort him. I was hugging him to calm him but he just cried into my shoulder. "DENMARK!"
He looked up at me. The tears stopped flowing. "Sorry.." He muttered.
"Don't be. What happened?"
"Everything."
"Like?"
Denmark's POV
Like the fact that you don't love me like I love you, the fact that my own country hates me, the fact that literally Denmark hates Denmark.
"Like nothing." I replied.
