"So you're telling me I was a stupid dare?!" Her voice cracked, a single tear rolling off her lashes and onto her cheek. "A date, I just had to ask you out-" Todoroki mindlessly followed her into the next room as she scoffed, tears flowing freely. "Please believe me, that was all before I got to know you Y/n." His hand reached for hers, a second of hesitation apparent in his movements before turning her to face him.

"I was dared to ask you out and I honestly never thought you'd agree-but you did and everything changed from then on." His eyes bore into hers, desperate for her to believe him, to understand just like she always did. "You're it for me Y/n." his lips shut to form a visible frown as she pulled away from him. "Am I?" she asked with a sarcastic tone in her voice. "Yes!" Todoroki answered a little too quickly but frankly he was terrified.

There a was a moment of pure silence as she looked back at him. "You told me before, nothing could change how you feel about me." Todoroki reminded her making Y/n laugh slightly. "That was before I-" Y/n's brows furrowed as Todoroki cut her off. "I love you Y/n. I have meant it every 56 times I've told you" Todoroki looked at her with full seriousness. "Unlove me then, I dare you Shoto" Todoroki was at a loss of words and he just stared back at her, scared and desperate.

"It doesn't work like that" his voice went quiet as they began to calm down. "I did ask you out because of a dare, but everything I we have is real. And if I had to a chance to do over again I'd do the dare over again" he slowly stepped closer towards her, half expecting for her to slap him and yell at him again, but she didn't.

"56? You keep count or something you weirdo?" Todoroki immediately blushed and replying with a "no?" Which derived more giggles from her. "You're lucky I love you, idiot."

Time slowed to a stop, Todoroki's body came crashing down, his outstretched hand brushing the tips of the bruised and cut skin of her fingertips. His eyes locked with hers as he watched her slip away from him. His body became frozen in pure horror, his eyes empty and staring ahead, mind blank and numb.

As a child Todoroki only new the pain of his father's desire for his son to be the best. He was alone, misunderstood and angry. Never had Todoroki thought he'd meet someone who'd captivate him, understand him on a level like she did. He never thought he'd fall in love like he did, he never though someone like her existed.

Y/n, L/n was the love of his life. Life had given him a rough start, and just when things had finally seemed to be going well, life pulled out the rug under his feet. How cruel reality can be. All the love stories left a bitter taste in his mouth, not everyone has a happy ending. Not everything is fixed when one falls in love, we aren't just fixed and left to go on to live on happily ever after. Some of us just aren't so fortunate.

He's a hero, he knew the risk that came with the job. He knew that either of them could've been killed at any second, but oh how he wished it had been him. What he'd give to not feel the pain he was feeling. Not even emerging victorious in the end could bring a sense of justice. He felt empty, cold, he couldn't even feel the pain from the wounds in his fists as he mindlessly beat the villain who stole his light.

If not for his green haired friend, he might have just became a murderer. Deku's words fell silent as the world around Todoroki was muffled, muted. Everything was different, she was gone and now he was alone once again. His body followed as he was led onto the ambulance and to a hospital for treatment.

His eye as caught sight of another gurney being pulled into another ambulance. His eyes flickered with a mixture of emotions as he saw a dainty hand peeking out of the black bag. His eyes remained glued to the golden ring matching his own. His body felt heavy and tired as he slipped away under the care of the paramedic seated beside him.
