It had been days since Todoroki had found Y/n and since he found out the cruel reality behind what truly happened the past 3 years. The gaps slowly began to fill in but the more he knew the more questions he had.

"Why did you join the league of villains?" This was the millionth time they asked, and yet every time they did she would only give them the same blank stare in return. She wasn't going to talk and they were all growing impatient.

Todoroki watched silently, his eyes trained on the girl who once was his fiancé. Had they truly brainwashed you so deeply? Was the torture so unbearable that you chose to change this drastically? Or did you choose to be a villain willingly?

He stepped into the room and immediately your eyes flickered to him. "Let me speak with her" the others looked among each other before stepping out, after all it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Her eyes trailed after him in amusement as he walked to her "What happened Y/n? Don't you think you owe your fiancé an explanation at least, you kinda did just walk out on me." He sat down in the chair across from her and watched her silently, waiting for a reply.

There it was, that same smile she gave him earlier. "Former fiancé, no?" She tilted her head slightly as she corrected him. Todoroki blinked and just stared at her. A few moments later she spoke again. "For the record, I didn't walk out on you, I was taken." She spoke so nonchalantly and shrugged slightly.

"But then again, was it really so bad?" Todoroki felt his stomach drop slightly at the smirk on her lips. "I lost the love of my life, did you stop to think about everything you left behind?" Todoroki began to grow upset at the emotionless shell of the girl he once loved.

"I chose the other team, I didn't lose my memory, of course I know." She said, her eyes showing a hint of curiosity. Todoroki glared at her and leaned forward. "I'll give you a bone, ask me what you truly want to know and I'll answer honestly, you have my word" she said with an unsettling smirk on her lips.

"Why did you join them?" He asked and she stared back, amused by his question. "Ah that. I thought you'd ask me something more interesting but fine, I gave my word." Her smirk disappeared and she gave him a look he couldn't quite put his finger on.

"I was against it at first but the funny thing about torture, it can truly bring out things we never knew hid beneath the surface." Todoroki frowned but remained silent. "The more time I spent being their prisoner, the more time I had to think and I realized, maybe my life wasn't all that great." Todoroki sat up, curious as to we she was about to say.

"I was always in the back, healing careless idiots who came in injured when it could've been avoided. My quirk wasn't one that could be used in a battle without being frowned upon, especially since I'd kill the other party but now I'd say we're on equal footing, don't you think?" There was a pause and Todoroki was trying his best to figure out what exactly happened.

"And then there was you. The fact that you clung to the idea of finding me proves that you did love me but the problem wasn't wether or not you loved me, but that you cared until it was too late." Todoroki stared at her in confusion. "You were never there, which is exactly how it was so easy for them to kidnap me. I prayed for weeks for you to save me but then I realized, you wouldn't, not because you didn't want to, but because you couldn't."

Todoroki took a moment and thought back, it was true, he was always working that he wasn't home that much. "You were so busy that by the time you found out, it was too late and there was no way you could find me. You didn't leave me much of a choice." She stared at him and then smiled. "What is it that they say? Ah yes, if you can't beat them, join them."

Todoroki's stomach churned as he realized he was to blame, if he had been around, she wouldn't have been kidnapped; if he had been around, he would've been able to save her. She was tortured for months until she lost all hope and decided it'd be better to become a murder than clinging to the hope he'd save her someday.

He let her down.

"Tell me Shoto, do you see now? Is your puzzle complete?" She asked with a blank face. He looked back up at her and furrowed his brows. "I have one more question." She scoffed and waved her hand, gesturing him to ask. "They said you had been brainwashed, that you had been manipulated into becoming a remorseless murderer, but based on what you've told me..." he paused and watched as a devilish grin spread across her lips.

"-You chose to become a villain on your own." Todoroki stared at her in horror as she chuckled. He wanted nothing more than to believe this was a cruel joke but reality was far more cruel. He asked her a final question before leaving the room.

"Do you truly feel nothing?" She responded with a simple, "The kill always makes you feel more alive." He stared at her for another second or two before walking out of the room, saying a low goodbye before closing the door.

Darkness filled the isolation cell she was in, the sound of the lock echoed throughout the room. "Goodbye Shoto" her voice was soft, as a single tear rolled down her cheek.

"I love you"
