Chapter Sixty six

Nagdadabog siyang pumasok ng club. Bwisit talaga iyong lalaking iyon! Akala mo kung sinong umasta! Gustong gusto niya talagang ipakain dito ang lahat ng pinagsasasabi nito sa kanya kanina! Hindi porke't sinusuyo niya ito nitong mga nagdaang linggo ay lalaki na ang ulo nito ng sobra sobra!

She's still fuming mad when a faniliar voice reached her ears.

"And now, ladies and gentlemen. For the most exciting part of the ceremony, we've come up with the most brilliant idea for the ladies who are here tonight!"

Napalingon siya kay Elle na nasa stage ngayon habang hawak hawak ang mike. A mischievous grin is on her face while eyeing the crowd na biglang natigil sa ginagawa para pakinggan ang anunsiyo nito.

She frowned. "Ano na naman kaya ang pakulo ng babaeng 'to.."

"This will be something great and exciting for our single ladies here tonight!" Patuloy na anunsyo ni Elle sa isang masiglang boses.

And when Elle finally dropped what this exciting idea was all about, isang nakakalokong halakhak ang kumawala sa kanya. Elle really exceeds her expectation when it comes to spectacles like this one.

"You heard it right my dear ladies! Tonight, you will have your chance to take one of our eligible bachelors here in my auction list for a one time date! How's that for a brilliant idea?"

Surprised gasps and excited shrieks filled the air because of the announcement. Halata ang excitement sa paligid. She let out an amused chuckle. Her smile disappeared though when she noticed where the women's eyes are being directed at. Napatayo siya ng diretso at napakunot noo ng mamataan kung saang mesa nakatingin ang mga ito at mas lalong lumalim pa ang pagkakakunot ng noo niya ng makitang nakaupo sa naturang mesa ang magaling niyang asawa!

"So let's get started ladies and start winning your man!"

She whipped her head at Elle's direction. "Elle wouldn't possibly include..." Pero agad nawala ang isiping iyon ng maalala niyang hindi pa pala nito alam na nakatali na sa kanya ang magaling nitong pinsan! At nasa daliri niya ngayon ang ebidensya!

She saw Elle's retainer, Everest, na lumapit sa mesa nila Mason partikular na kay James na nakaupo din doon. Yumukod si Everest at saka may kung anong ibinulong kay James. They looked like they are arguing. Mayamaya pa'y umalis na si Everest doon at lumapit sa stage.

Meanwhile, the men back at the table are snickering nonstop. Mason and Aiden looked like they are about to roll on the ground laughing! Ilang sandali pa'y nagsimula na ulit ang anunsyo ni Elle.

"And for the first bachelor on my list, the bidding for Lord Thomas James Sinclair De Vere, Earl of Landford is now open! The bidding starts at Fifty Thousand Pounds, so any higher bids ladies?"

Hindi nakaligtas sa kanya ang pagsama ng mukha ni James. He looked incredulous while looking at her sister. For sure, dahil hindi nito nagustuhan ang starting price nito. Knowing how proud the men in their family are... hindi na siya magtataka.

"One hundred thousand pounds!" A woman shouted.

"One hundred and fifty thousand pounds!"

"One hundred and eighty thousand pounds!"

"Two hundred thousand pounds!"

Nakita niyang puro kantiyaw ang mga kaibigan nila kay James. Pero lahat sila maging siya ay napatigil ng marinig ang sunod na bid.

"Five hundred thousand pounds!"

Sabay sabay silang napalingon sa nag-bid. A serious looking woman in a light pink gown was looking directly at Elle. Lahat ay natahimik.
