But they did not matter...He did...Tyler did.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tyler took me home around midnight...I felt as if I were living in a fairy tale...Everything was so surreal; after a magnificent evening with the handsome prince, I returned home to my usual duties...I never wanted this night to end, but if it had to, I wouldn't have changed a single thing.
On the drive home we chatted endlessly, vigorously about nothing... We had pointless conversations consisting of random outbursts; the best kind of conversation. We shared fears, swapped stories, stated our favorite color, and argued about the validity of politics and such. If an outsider were to listen on our conversation, they would have deemed us crazy...But to us it wasn't... And I liked that.... At one point our hands became intertwined and I traced small circles on the back of his hand. Everything felt as it were out of a movie.
By the time I reached the steps of my house, I couldn't help but feel as if I was preparing to enter the gates of hell. The home, or the closest thing to a home I had, had suddenly become a nightmare house...
I stared at it. Those very walls held so much secrets... They witnessed ever everytime my father, or someone else dare laid a hand on the ones I cared about...I felt..dirty.
I shivered uncomfortably in my seat...Tyler noticed.
"Ya know if you don't want to go home, you could always sleep over at mine...", he said gripping his steering wheel tight.
I sighed, "No..It's fine...My little brother would get worried..."
"How is he anyways?...Kevin?"
"He's fine... Wait how'd you know his name?"
Tyler froze. "Oh, I remembered you bringing it up before..."
"Kevin? I don't remember ever speaking of Kevin...." Regardless, I shook my head and pushed the thought to the farthest end of my mind.
I chuckled. "Well I think I'll go now.."
"Okay."
I began to step out of the car when I suddenly felt a cold hand grab my wrist. I turned around to notice Tyler facing me. He appeared as if he was nervous about something.
"Ava...I-I had a great time tonight.."
I smiled to ease up his discomfort. "Me too...Everything was perfect, all thanks to you Tyler."
His smile grew. "I-I know most women usually don't kiss on the first date..B-but...I-I thought since we already ya know that it would be-"
He was cut off by my lips. Our lips move together in sync and I repeated my action earlier by running my fingers through his hair.
He cupped my face bringing it even closer to him. I moaned slightly which earned a grunt from him. He lifted me up slightly and positioned me on his lap. He moved his hand under my shirt until he was teasing the skin on the small of my back. I arched my back in surprise which in turn ended up hitting the honk making a loud noise, enought to wake the neighbourhood.
We begin laughing carelessly at my clumsiness. Although I felt embarrassed, I couldn't help but join him.
"O-oh my G-od", he said breathlessly laughing.
I hit his chest playfully. "Hey! Only I get to laugh at myself!"
He continued laughing. "Whatever you say Princess."
I joined him in laughter and layed on top of his chest, my face facing the house.
Every light was turned off except the one in the, "Living room"... I stared at it and felt a huge lump form in my throat.
"Maybe Jesse fell asleep and forgot to turn the light off", I said trying to comfort myself. I knew deep down something was waiting for me in that house...And it wouldn't be good.
"Tyler, I think I should go now."
"Ughh...Do you have to?"
"Yes. I do", I said hurriedly. I fumbled trying to travel across the car, to the passenger side. I opened the door and whispered goodbye to Tyler.
I ran across the lawn to the front door. I fumbled with my keys but managed. I turned and offered a small smile to Tyler before I stepped inside.
I braced myself for whatever is to come...But it never came.
The TV was on, but Jesse was nowhere to be found. I assumed he was asleep on the couch and began to tip-toe upstairs.
"How was your date?", I heard a low voice say.
