“Often when we realize how precious those seconds are, it's too late for them to be captured because the moment has passed. We realize too late.”

“Hey, Matt.” The meek voice of the young man carried to the silent vocalist. Arin didn’t sit, just stood at Matt’s bedside, watched the man’s chest rise and fall steadily. “Look, I know you don’t know me very well, you guys just picked me up a couple months ago, but I’m concerned about you. You were the one that believed in me the most. I heard you talking to the guys. You said, ‘He reminds me of Jimmy. Let’s keep him.’”

Arin looked down at Matt’s face with a frown. “You lost so much in him, didn’t you? I bet you miss him a lot. I hear he was real crazy. Do you dream, Matt? Are you dreaming about him? Well if you are, say hello to him for me, okay?”

His phone began to buzz in his pocket. Arin took it out and checked the caller ID. It was a number he didn’t recognize. Puzzled, Arin pressed “Answer.”
