Chapter 12

July 20 1965

Babygirl's POV
I am still in the cabin with Sofia. She is the best little girl I have ever met. She loves to draw, she cooked with me, she is so funny and it is so cute, we played and we swam in the lake.
I had the best 2 weeks ever.
"Lollipop we are going to go back to Tulsa" I said putting her clothes in my backpack .
"Really?!" She said jumping
"Really"I smiled.
"Okay let's go." I grabbed her hand and we left the cabin.
"I'm tired of walking baby" Lolli complained
"A little more. Here let's sing a song" i said to her
"Okay"
"Put your head in my shoulder" I started
"Whisper in my ear" she sang
"Baby" We both said and laughed

Steve's POV
We haven't found babygirl. I wonder were she went and why she ran away?
It's been 2 weeks. Where could baby be??
I'm at the Curtis house right now with the gang. Everyone is doing there normal morning routine. I'm just sitting on the couch. Thinking about baby.

The phone started to ring so I got up and I picked up
"Hello, Steve Randle speaking" I said bored
"Stevie want to go on a date later"it was Evie
"Sure" i said tapping my foot
"Okay see you later baby" she said
"Bye" i hung up and went to the kitchen.
"Who was It Steve?" Soda asked putting on his DX shirt
"The one and only Evie." I sighed and started eating my cake

Babygirl's POV
"Are we There yet?" Lolli complained
"We are really close look we can even see the lot from here" I said picking her up
"Here let's race, who ever can make it to the lot wins okay" I said smiling
"Okay" Lolli got into her position
"Ready...set.... and... hey!" Lolli started running and she ran fast.

"I win!" She yelled
"Yes ... you ... do" I said catching my breath, I sat down on the couch that Johnny usually sits at. 
"Was that fun?" I said smiling
"Yes" She said jumping on the couch.
"Okay we are almost to my friends house. Come on" I said grabbing her hand. Her hands were so sweaty
"Are you nervous lollipop?" I asked her
"Very" She said stopping.
"Come on" I picked her up and I started walking again.

I saw the Curtis house super close so I put Lolli down.
"Okay we are really close, my friends house is that one right there" I said pointing to the house
She sighed and nodded
"Are you tired lollipop?" I asked her
She nodded and rubbed her eyes.
"Come on."I grabbed her hand and I walked to the door. I heard a bunch of chatter and I giggled.
I took a breath and knocked on the door.
Everyone stopped talking.
"How May... I ...oh my god!" It was Sodapop, he hugged me tight.
"Soda. I . Need. To. Breath" I said running out of air.
"Sorry" he smiled
"Lollipop where did you go?" I said looking behind me but lollipop left.
"Who you looking for?" Soda asked
"Lollipop. Um wait" I walked to the side of the house and I saw her sitting on the ground.
"Lollipop come on he won't do anything" I carried her and walked to the front.
"Who is this cutie?" Soda said smiling at Lolli
"Hi" She said quietly. She was so shy.
"I'm Sodapop" Soda said smiling
"I'm Sofia June, call me lollipop" Lolli said smiling
"Hi lollipop." Soda said, I smiled
"Soda who's at the door?!" I heard Darry yell
"Some one!" Soda yelled back
"Come in, everyone missed you baby" Soda said walking in
"Lollipop don't be scared okay." I said looking into her big blue eyes
"Okay" she smiled
I walked in with lollipop in my arms.
"Oh my god!" Ponyboy yelled and ran up and hugged me.
"I missed you baby I missed you so much don't leave don't leave ever." Pony said hugging me
"I can't breath" lollipop said
"Oh sorry little girl" pony said really confused
"Come on Lolli introduce your self just like you did to Soda" I said looking at Lolli
"My name is sofia June but call me lollipop" she smiled
"Hi I'm ponyboy, sodapop's kid brother. How old are you lollipop?" Pony asked her
"I'm 4" she said sticking her little finger out
"You are cute" pony said chucking
"Thank you" She smiled
"Lollipop im going to put you down cause you are a little bit heavy when I carry you most of the way" I put Lolli down, and she went to the kitchen.
"Johnny" I said and hugged him
"Two" I hugged him too
"We missed you so much" Johnny said
"You scared the living shit out of me" Two said smiling
"Ahh!"I heard Lolli scream
"Lollipop are you okay!" I yelled and ran to her, I squatted at her level, and she hugged me tightly.
"Lollipop what happened?" I said looking into her big blue eyes
"I'm scared" she said quietly
"Of who princess" I said
"Them" she pointed at Dallas and Darry, I stood up and hugged them both tightly
"Baby where were you we missed you" Darry said
"I needed some alone time with lollipop" I smiled
"Who's the kid?" Dallas said
"This is Sofia June, call her lollipop and she is 4 so no bad language or smoking." I said looking at Dallas.
"Whatever but I don't like kids"Dallas said sitting down
"I missed you too" I smiled
"I missed you babygirl rose blue" he said grinning
"Freak you" I smiled
"Baby?" I heard Steve, steve the person that I love. I slowly turned around, and ran and hugged him.
"I missed you so much!" I said hugging him tightly
"Me too!" He said hugging me tightly back
"Baby is that the prince from the stories?" Lollipop said. I blushed hard core
Steve just smiled
"Baby you didn't answer me" she said tugging on my pants. I squatted to her height and nodded
"Hello prince I'm Sofia June call me lollipop, baby told me a lot about you" I covered up Lillie mouth.
"Shh" I said. My face was probably red as a cherry.
"Oops" Lolli giggled
"I'm Steve" Steve said smirking, I bit my lip and looked down.
"Well I have to go home and get a room ready for lollipop and I have to change" i said changing what people were thinking
"Darry do you think you can give me a ride cause we have been walking all morning" I asked
"Sure but can I talk to you?" Darry asked me
"Lollipop go Watch Mickey with two bit" I said and she nodded
I walked to the backyard with Darry.
"What are you doing with Sofia? Where did you find her?" Darry asked
"Well when I stopped running I made it to a cabin and I was cleaning it and well I saw a door on the ground so I opened it and I found lollipop crying. I asked her what happened to her parents and they died in a fire. Darry she has no one and I have taken care of her for 2 weeks and I'm not changing or stopping now. That little girl means the world to me now" I said as my eyes started to tear up.
"Shhh it's okay" Darry Hugged me
"Do you have the money to afford another person in your family?" Darry asked me
"Yes Darry I bought her $50 dollars worth of clothes and I also bought her toys, I cooked with her and she just makes me happy." I said
"Okay it's your life. Now you have a kid technically." Darry sighed
"Well I'm glad I have her cause she made my life 10 times better and by the way she loves cooking and singing so she can help ya out in the kitchen" I smiled
"We'll see" Darry chucked and we went inside.

"Okay Steve, soda, baby, and lollipop let's go"
Darry said grabbing his keys
"Come on Lolli" I said grabbing her hand
"Bye" She said smiling, she waved at everyone and walked out with me.
We went in to the car and I sat her on my lap, Steve sat next to me and soda in the front with Darry.
"Where'd you go?" Steve asked me
I didn't want anyone to know where the cabin was but I am telling Steve cause I tell him everything.
"I went to a cabin in the woods next to a lake. I found a door on the floor, I opened it and I found lollipop" I smiled
"Of course you would be there, you love nature and you know, those things." Steve chucked
"Yeah" i smiled
"Okay baby here's your stop" Darry said stopping the car.
"Thank you" i said as I opened the door of the car.
"Come on Lolli" she grabbed my hand and looked at the house.
"Wow, you house is nice" Lolli looked at my house and smiled
"Come on let's go in my parents might be worried." I walked with Lolli to the front porch and knocked on the door

My papa opened the door.
"Baby?" He said with a smile
"Papa!" I hugged him
"Where were you? Why did you leave again?"He asked me
"I needed some time to cool down from everything" I said
"Who is this?" Papa squatted down to Lolli's height and smiled
"This is sofia June, I found her alone at the cabin that I stayed at and I want to keep her" I said picking her up
"Baby it's going to be so much work" he said, looking concerned
"I already bought her clothes and toys, all she needs is a family." I have him a sad smile
"Mama and I will talk about it, but come in girls." I went in side and I saw
My sister and mom talking. When they saw me they both ran up to me and hugged me tightly
"You said you wouldn't leave baby" my mom said with tears steaming down her face
"Mama I needed some time alone" I said
"And, meet Sofia June, I found her in the cabin by herself without a family needing help, and so I took her in and I was wondering if we could keep her" I said smiling
"Babygirl, va ser mucho"
"Mama it's okay all she needs is a family and a home, I already bought her clothes and toys."
"Well, then we are going to have to clear out the attic, for our new little princess" my mama said smiling
"Really?!" I said squealing
My parents nodded and I hugged them tightly
"Thank you" I whispered
"Lollipop, want to see your new room?" I said squatting down
"Yayy!" She said hugging me

We all went to the attic and it was empty, there was just dust everywhere, and all we needed were drawers, a bed, shelf's, carpet, and paint.
"It's really Dirty here."Lolli said sneezing
"Today we are going to clean it and we are going to buy the things and set it all up tomorrow. okay" I picked her up and smiled

All we did was clean the attic all day making sure everything was perfect. My papa went to a hardware to buy paint, a bed, drawers, a little table and some other things for a room.

At night:
"Lollipop to night you are sleeping with me since everything isn't ready yet" I said walking up the stairs with her
"Okay"
We went in my room and she made her self cozy on my bean bag chair, she fell asleep so quickly. Probably because of everything we did today.

I hopped in bed when I heard pebbles being thrown to my window.
I walked to my window and opened the curtains.
It was Steve.
"What are you doing?!" I whisper yelled
"I wanted to be with you!" Steve yelled back
"Come" I said
He climbed up the tree into my room.
"Steve we have to be quiet lollipop is sleeping right there" I said pointing at her
He just smiled and said "your parents let you keep 'er"
"Yeah, today we actually started preparing er room." I smiled back and sat on my bed.
"Um can I stay here tonight, my dad is at home and I don't want to deal with his shit" Steve scratched his neck
"Yes you may" I smiled
Steve laid down on the floor looking at the ceiling.
"Steve What are you doing?" I asked him
"I'm going to sleep" he said in a 'duh' tone of voice
"No, you are sleeping in This bed, not on the floor. Come on, there is so much space" i moved and there was enough space for him and i on the bed. I patted the empty spot.
"You Sure?" He said getting up
"Positive" I smiled, he smiled back and sat laid down next to me.
"Steve is it okay if I hug you" I asked him
"Y-eah" his voice cracked
I laid down next to him and hugged him.
"Good night Steve, I love you" and I drifted off to a deep sleep.
