"Sir, Mr Noah James is on line 2. He says it's urgent.", Alizah, my secretary, informed me.

Why is Noah calling on the office phone? I wondered.

I received the call,"Hello."

"Dude, where the hell are you? Why isn't your phone reachable?",  a tensed Noah asked me.

I looked around the table to find my phone and found it switched off.

"Battery ran out. Everything okay?", I asked.

"Umm, actually, Rachel's water broke. I'm driving her to the hospital."

His words stopped my breath.

Rachel's water broke. I'm driving her to the hospital.

"Aaron? You there?", I could hear Noah calling.

"I'll be there in fifteen minutes." That was all I said before leaving my office.

Breaking every traffic rule, and driving reckless, I was able to make it to the hospital in less than fifteen minutes.

I asked the receptionist about Rachel's whereabouts and she asked me to go to thirteenth floor.

The whole ride of the elevator went in a blur. As soon as the elevator door opened on the thirteenth floor, I could see Noah talking to Rachel's doctor at a distance.

Without wasting any second, I hurried towards them. The doctor saw me and stopped saying whatever he was saying. Noah also turned around, exhaustion and tension visible on his face.

"How is she?", were my words when I reached them.

There was a brief silence before the doctor started,"Mr West, she got into labour almost four weeks before due date. It's not a positive sign obviously."

My heartbeat was increasing.

"So now what?", I asked.

"We don't have any choice other than operating her. We have to get the baby out.", he sighed.

"She'll be fine, right? She and the baby?"

"We can only hope for the best. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've to make arrangements."

They're operating her. Operation!

I can't believe this is happening. We'd made so many plans for the delivery date. Even the nursery is not completely ready by now.
