Sam was broken he couldn't do it he couldn't lose more people not after his Mom,Jess, John
He was done with it he was done with getting to close to people but that only lasted so long before he met Gabriel which was the biggest mistake Sam had ever made because he fell in love with Gabriel but just like everyone does Gabriel left Sam alone again
He was gone-he was gone and there was nothing Sam could do about it, he had watched love after love die but Gabriel was different not because he was a guy but because him and Sam had gone through hell together they had watched each other rise and fall, they had witnessed one another's highest and weakest moments, 'love' couldn't even describe how they felt about each other
It's worse when you're in a relationship so toxic but you don't care, he couldn't even tell anyone about him and Gabriel because they just wouldn't understand they could never understand

Sam and Dean were working a case something about people mysteriously dropping dead one after the other like flies
They had spent the entire day interviewing the victims families and searching for more clues to find the the thing that was killing people
Dean had agreed to stay back at the motel while Sam went to go and grab them some food
Sam walked up to the Impala swinging the keys in his hand and opening the car door driving off

Dean sat on his chair tapping his pen on the desk his eye lids threatening to close, he almost dosed off but when he heard a 'whoosh' from behind him and he quickly turned around assuming it was his angel, but the angel in front of him was definitely not his angel

Sam pulled up to the motel getting out of the Impala and slamming the car door, he sighed as he opened the motel door entering the room and placing the food on the table not bothering to look up
"Hey Dean you find anything-" Sam had finally turned his head giving out a shaky breath Dean was sitting on his bed talking to someone but Sam couldn't make out who so he moved a bit closer to the bed awestruck at who was sitting there "Gabriel ?" He breathed tears already falling from his eyes as he sniffed
He blinked and quickly turned around leaving the room
"Well..that went swell" Dean commented, Gabriel rolled his eyes and got up instantly following Sam out
Sam walked around behind the motel his hands on his head with his breath still shaky trying to comprehend who he just saw, multiple thoughts running around his head
It can't be Gabriel
That-that wasn't Gabriel
Yeah no it was someone else probably just hallucinating right? I mean it is close to his death date
"Yeah that was not Gabriel" Sam convinced himself
"Do really not want it to be me ?" A voice asked from behind him
"Go away you're not- you can't be Gabriel"
Gabriel scoffed "You of all people should know death doesn't stop anyone, I mean come on? you've died like what twice?"
"Why are you here Gabriel?, you died and we weren't exactly on good terms when it happened"
"That's my fault and I'm sorry about that but do you believe it's me ?"
