[Cassidy’s POV]

I was standing right in the middle of a huge crowd.

The place was too gray. Too silent. And... too lifeless.

This whose place was so automated. Like everything and everyone was made of machine and functioned accordingly without a glitch. This place gave me the chills.

I tried to raise a step on the hard, cemented floor of what seemed like a long and endless road. The buildings to my right were oozing with gray color and the people’s umbrellas around me were bleeding red like convex roses. Sinubukan kong huminga ng malalim. I felt the cold breeze which made the hair on my arms and legs stand up.

‘Nasaan ako?’ sabi ng isip ko.

‘Excuse me.’

I tried again, but I failed twice. Ano bang nangyayari? Nas’an ba ko? Anong lugar ‘to? Patay na ba ko?

I wanted to scream but I couldn’t. I wanted to run but my legs felt so stiff under my white night dress. I didn’t remember wearing a night dress like this before. I could feel tears stinging behind my eyes. I was lost. I was lost in this terrible place. In this horrible nightmare.

But when I raised my head up, I saw someone standing in front of me. A man. He was all black. Like a black hole in the middle of this lifeless place. He wasn’t moving nor saying something. We stared at each other for five, ten, fifteen seconds. My mouth dropped in recognition at parang nabunutan ako ng napakalaking tinik sa puso. He was the one I needed in this dreadful place. The only one who could provide the security I was looking for. And the only entity that promised haven for my lost self.
