"Why are you so quiet? Did I do something wrong?"

It was true. The whole time in the car to home, I was quiet. Which I guess was unusual for me, but I couldn't help but think 'what if'.

What if Darren had never broken up with Tori? What if Darren never proposed to me and then talked to Tori after? What if he never found me and was never with Tori? Would he have been sad and lonely?

"No. I'm just thinking" I retorted under my breath.

"About me?" Darren teased.

"I suppose" I responded getting out of the car as soon as it came to a halt in front of the mansion.

"Oh, come on. Stop thinking about diner. Stop thinking about me and Tori. I don't like her if that's what your thinking about" Darren argued matter-of-factly.

I walked to the door as Darren opened it for me.

"I never said I was thinking about you and Tori, or dinner. How did you know?" I questioned narrowing my eyes on him.

"I could sense it" Darren shrugged. "It's like we have this bond since the transformation that I feel things coming from you. Right now it's between envy and question" Darren teased.

"Not funny!" I slapped him playfully on his arm.

Darren pretended to feel pain as he rubbed the spot.

"I'm just thinking what if..." I continued.

I started walking up the stairs as Darren followed me.

"Stop thinking about it, Candice!" Darren said grabbing my arm to turn me around to meet him eye to eye.

"I can't" I argued.

Darren closed the space between us as he lowered his lips to mine.

"Then just think about this"

Darren crashed his warm lips onto mine. His hand caressing my cheek as he pulled my body closer to his.

I couldn't help but smile on his lips as my insides filled with warmth. I hated the fact that I felt a powerful lust wash over me, every time Darren touched me, even for a split second.

"Darren" I breathed as he trailed kisses down to my collarbone.

"Are you forgetting yet?" Darren teased.

I gave in with a sigh. "You know me so well" I said looking into his blue eyes.

Darren laughed. "I'll know you even better after our wedding. When we have our honeymoon" Darren teased.

I could help but feel that time was punishing me. How long was it going to be before the wedding was over with?! Before I finally had Darren entirely for myself? I swear being a vampire was making me horny most of the time with Darren. I could eat him up right now if I could.

"Rise and shine beautiful future daughter-in-law!"

My ears were going deaf at the exciting voice calling out to me. The light bulbs hurting my eyes as they on and off.

"Okay!" I laughed getting up and out of bed in a swift movement.

I caught Melody, Darren's mom, looking at me with a crazy kind of expression.

"Hi, mom-in-law" I joked rubbing my eyes for effect. I think I slept for an hour. I couldn't sleep in the night these past days. Which I guess was my vampire side waking me up.

"Do you know what we are going to do today!" Melody gave me an excited expression.

"No" I said slowly.

"DRESS FITTING! And then we can pick out a veil, shoes, maybe even accessories to go along with it!" Melody squealed.

My heart blasted with contempt. "That sounds nice!" I agreed.

"So hurry up and get dressed!"

***********

"Do you want the ruffled one? Want it long in back, where it drags on the floor? The transparent one? How about the short-sleeves one?" Melody was practically emptying racks as she looked for "the one" wedding dress.

I could help but feel like laughing at how serious she was taking this. I mean I was the bride after all.

But on the other hand I felt kinda sad. I mean wasn't this suppose to be like a daughter and mother kinda thing? Where the mother tells her daughter, the bride, how beautiful she'll look on the wedding aisle and how lucky she is to find the perfect match to marry? And how this day reminds her of her on her wedding days.

"Hey are spacing out on me, darling? Am I that boring? Or are you having wedding week blues?" Melody was talking to me, getting me out of my thoughts.

"Huh? Oh, no I'm fine" I smiled to reassure her. "I'm just thinking about how this would feel if I had family to share this event with" I said.

I immediately wanted to take that back. "Oh, not that I'm saying your not family! I mean, I wish I knew who was my real mother at least" I explained. "But I love you like a mother because you are very supportive of me and Darren" I thanked her.

Melody gave me a warm smile. One that read understanding and sympathy.

"Candice" she sighed taking a seat near me. "I've met your parents"

"Really?" my eyes shot up at hers. I wanted to know more about them. Why did they leave me? Where were they? Were they even alive?

"I bet you have a lot of questions, just like your mother" she laughed.

I nodded, feeling happy that I was reminded by my parents.

"I don't have the answer to all the questions. I'm sure you'll get your answers as time passes. For now, I can only be the person who wants to help and support you. I'm sorry your parents aren't here with you but I'll make sure you'll get your happily ever after" Melody reassured.

Was that what the wedding was for me? A happily ever after? A chance to get a normal life as possible. One that didn't deceive me?

"Now do you like this one or that one?" Melody was holding her hands out with dresses on each hand. One made of silk with silver sparkles another on with a fluffy bottom and straps for the top.

My eyes roamed around the room of the wedding dress store, landing on a dress that looked like heaven.

"That one!" I gasped pointing at the dress that hung on the racks all alone on the wall.

I was a sweetheart neck line with silver glitter outlining it. A puffy and ruffled bottom, looking like a cinderella white dress.

"Well try it on!" Melody pushed me into one of the fitting rooms.

I unzipped the back of the dress, jumping inside it. The material felt like a silk blanket on my skin, clinging onto my curves perfectly. IT FITTED! It was like it was meant for me.

I stepped outside to show Melody.

"That's totally the one!" Melody practically fangirled over the dress as she touched it like it was gold. Too good to be true.

"I found matching white and silver colored heels!" Melody exclaimed. "And the veil with diamond ends! Oh!" "That's totally the theme! White and diamonds everywhere!" Melody was going over her head with the wedding plans.

I chuckled lightly at how thoughtful and hyper she was. I wish she was something like my real mom.
