I sip on my coffee, waiting for Demi to arrive to Swift & Sweet so we can have coffee together. I glance around the cafe, sitting at Demi's booth where she always sit when she comes here. Customers were all sitting around, at booths or tables or even standing up, chatting loudly with their friends or love ones. This was home to me, this small cafe at the corner of Monroe street. I remember first getting this job when I moved to NYC, my boss, Raphael immediately took me under his wing when I practically begged for a job here.

He taught me the cafe from inside to out, I now know this cafe like the back of my hand. I regularly work here, when I'm not, I tend to be with Ezra up and down the streets of New York. Always with him and showing him how it's like to have a fun childhood, where he only has to worry about what to color in his colorful workbooks and sleeping.

I did a nice job at raising him, pretty fucking proud of myself.

Taking another sip of my coffee, I watch as Demi slips into the booth in front of me.

She smiles and I smile back, gently putting my cup back on the table.

"You came," I say and smiled. She nods, taking a sip from her coffee that I got her. I also got her a muffin too.

"Of course I came, didn't want to miss a free cup of coffee huh?" She says and I chuckle. She grins behind her cup of coffee and I took a sip too.

"This coffee is so good, you guys make some really good pastries too. Everything you guys do here is heavenly made. Like, my taste buds explode with the delicious things." She says and I grin from ear to ear.

"Really? For the five years that I've work here, I never really had the chance to taste Annabelle's pastries." I tell her and shock covered her features.

"Really?" She gasps. "It's heaven on earth! You gotta try it! Here, take a bit of mine," She says and before I could object, she stuff the muffin into my mouth. My eyes widened before taking my napkin and bringing it to my lips so I can spit it out while Demi covers her mouth, a little embaress by her actions.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have done that, I should think before I act." She says and I wave her off, I threw away the muffin and gave her a sorry look.

"Sorry it's just I can't eat anything with sugar in it," I say and smile at her sadly. She gives me a nod, signaling it was alright and points at my face, giggling a little.

"You have a little something here," She says, pointing to my right cheek. I grab my napkin and whip my face, to take off anything that was there.

"Still?" I say and she shakes her head. I whip my mouth some more but it appears that I still didn't got it.

"Here, let me." Demi says and leans over the table, she grabs my napkin from me and gently yet softly whip away the crumbs of muffin at the corner of my lips. I hold my breath, looking at her as she pulls back and sits back on her seat.

"There," She smiles at me while I let go of my breath. I give her a small smile and say, "Thanks for that,"

"It's nothing really," I glance at the clock and saw it was already two, I should get back to work. And I also knew I had to pick up Ezra from school, he would be getting out in a hour. My shift doesn't end until four thirty, which is really late to pick Ezra up.

"I should get back to work, my break just ended." I say and stood up, taking our cups as Demi pouts at me.

"Do you really have to go?" She says and I nodded, smiling sadly at her.

"Sadly, I do. I gotta get back to waitressing," I say and she waves at me.

"Okay, it was nice having a cup of coffee with you, even though I practically shoved my muffin in your face." She says, looking a little sorry for that.
