Holy shit, an update? Yeah. Surprise. A late birthday present/early christmas present from my crippled body. Huzzah. Thanks for sticking with me. So far this book is like 85k words long. I feel like I have a good 30-40k to go so brb while I try to full throttle this bitch.

Edit: went back and planned, we have approx 13 chapters to go.

"Matthias?"

"Yeah?" the blonde answered with a stressed smile. "Emil, right?" He was shivering slightly in the early morning bite.

"Yeah..." Emil trailed off nervously. Matthias gave a pained look, urging Emil to answer his previous question. "About Lukas, I think you should come inside."

"Thank you," he whispered like he would die if he spent another minute outside in the cold. Once the door was shut, Leon was in sight and Emil felt his cheeks heat.

"You're shorter than I thought you'd be," was the first thing to come out of Leon's mouth. Not a 'hello' or quick introduction, that shit. Matthias turned and gave a wide cheeky smile that dimpled his cheeks. Both Emil and Leon felt that stomachs flip at the literal human embodiment of sunshine in the hallway.

"It's the hair," Matthias said sweetly and then pointed to Leon. "Boyfriend?"

"Yeah, I guess," Emil shrugged, he could just about feel Leon smirking behind him. Then Leon pointed to Matthias and said "boyfriend?" Unexpectedly, that was a bit of a curveball that had Matthias twisting uncomfortably.

"Uh, sort of not really?" He stuttered. "More of a partner-permanent-room-mate-caretaker sort of thing."

"That's Lukas-speak for boyfriend," Emil shot back with a smirk. It was odd having Matthias in the house. Though they had never met, they could instantly find common ground with Lukas and his odd ways. It was almost a relief to have the boyfriend or not boyfriend riddle solved – he had a good feeling about Matthias' sudden appearance.

"Matthias, how do you take your tea?" Leon asked. Emil didn't even realise that Leon had already waltzed over to the kitchen and was already in the middle of making tea.

"Black, one sugar, thank you," Matthias replied with a confused smile. He followed Emil out to the kitchen and took a seat at the bench. "So... you're at the stage where your boyfriend stays over on a school night and he knows his way around your kitchen." He cooed. "How long have you guys been at it?"

"Two-three months or something?" Leon replied, walking over hands full of steaming hot mugs. "Plus it's only a school night for me, this little shit hasn't been going to school," he gestured to Emil who gave a soft scowl and blew on his tea to cool it down.

"Sorry for showing up unannounced by the way," Matthias said quietly, curling in on himself. "Lukas stopped responding to my messages a while ago and went a M-I-A, I freaked out, got time off work and flew over here," he explained, staring into his steaming cup of tea.

"He's okay as long as I don't leave him home alone," Emil began. "Had to get him started on new meds... he hasn't been going very well." Matthias gave a look of understanding. "How come you haven't come over here before?" he suddenly asked.

"He didn't want me to drop everything and come with him, plus he didn't want the responsibility of taking care of another person to fall on me. Selfless but..." he trailed off.

"But selfish," Emil finished wryly. "S' who he is."

"Hate to break it to you Monsieur Selfless but it appears that your replacement has arrived," Leon teased, poking Emil in the ribs. "Get ready for school." Leon drained his cup in six seconds, disappeared to throw on a pair of pants and waltzed to the front door. "See you at the end of the street in thirty." And with that, he disappeared.
