"Tiffany it weren't like that," Jamie insisted following me upstairs.

He's not half as drunk as he smells.

"Don't even go there," I muttered.

"Go there? you're the one who's making it out to be something its not."

"Jamie you couldn't even change a nappy."

"I was with my mates."

"I was with Amy and Mum."

"There's a difference, you're female."

"Excuse me?!" I snapped.

"Why are you being like this?"

"Just go downstairs Jamie before we really start arguing."

He stumbled off grumbling to himself leaving me to put Charleigh to bed.

The one thing that's wound me up is that he promised he would be a father figure before we were even together, I didn't have to ask because he was the one who offered, yet now there's a party that seems to be forgotten.

I don't want to argue with him though. I sat watching Charleigh until I knew she was asleep and then set up the baby monitor to take downstairs with me. I wandered in the kitchen unaware that Jamie is in here, he looked up as I rummaged in the fridge for a can of coke.

"What are you looking for?" he asked.

"Nothing," I mumbled shutting the door and picking up one from the dining table.

"What's wrong with you tonight?"

I walked away ignoring him.

"Tiffany?" he called grabbing my arm.

"I'm going to see Amy," I sighed.

"Don't be angry with me, you know il change her nappy it was just difficult at that moment."

"Right."

"Is she sleeping?"

"Yeah."

He lifted up my chin and pressed his lips onto mine softly.

"I will come and see you in a bit," he spoke.

"That's what you said earlier."

"I'm just catching up with everyone, I've hardly seen them since Charleigh was born."

"I've got friends to catch up with too," I said walking away from him into the living room.

"There you are, are you okay?" Amy asked.

"Yeah I'm fine."

"Are you sure? I thought you seemed pissed off at Jamie back then."

"Am I expecting too much from him Amy?" I asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Well he couldn't even change Charleigh's nappy for me, it only takes five minutes."

"He was with his mates though babe," she shrugged.

"He's not interested tonight."

"He's celebrating and you should be too."

"What if he goes back to his old ways?"

"Now you are jumping the gun, it's day one. Pour yourself a drink and relax," she ordered.

Maybe I am.

"Shit," I heard Jamie mutter after knocking something at the top of the stairs, more than likely a body part.

Charleigh is sleeping peacefully but I continued to watch her in her moses basket beside our bed.

"Why are you still awake?" he asked.

"I'm watching her," I replied.

"She's fine, I thought you were tired."

He climbed into the bed beside me and waited for me to lay down before turning off the bedside lamp. I hate being this distant with him and I'm hoping it's just a bad day, but tonight has definitely upset me.

"Come on," he pleaded.

I gave in and laid down, he wrapped me up in his arms but we're still a little tense.
