Chapter 7

"You liar!" I yell as I find Kyle leaning against a wall, drinking from a red solo cup.

Even in my furious state, I can't help but admire his looks. His sharp jaw line seems to be illuminated in the lighting, making it hard to focus on anything else.

He's also wearing the same thing from earlier today in school, which looks just as good as it did then now. His jeans were tight, possibly tighter, and his flannel just made the outfit hotter.

Hey, I can check him out if I want to. It doesn't mean anything other than he should be a model.

He probably is..

"You told me you wouldn't come," I say, dragging my eyes away from his jaw and to his hazel eyes.

"Aaron's a very persuasive person," he muses. "You know, this is all for me. It'd be rude if I didn't show up."

"It's rude that you didn't listen to me," I argue.

"Oops," he says with a smirk and takes a swig of his drink, only to have me snatch is from his hands. "What the hell, Cassidy?"

I sniff the drink and sure enough it's- "Apple juice?"

Kyle takes the cup back and nods. "Apple juice."

I stand dumbfounded as he just looks back at me with amusement, proud that he proved me wrong. He gulps down the rest of his drink and crushes the cup afterwards.

"Oh how manly," I joke sarcastically.

He rolls his eyes, trying to hide the smile that I know I caused. Shaking his head, he pushes himself off the wall and walks right past me.

K, that's cool too?

I sigh and watch him head into the large kitchen area where he pours himself more apple juice. Where he got apple juice, I do not know. But as long as it's not alcohol I'll be happy. Kyle doesn't come back to the wall and actually heads the opposite direction.

Blush creeps on my cheeks when I realize how long I was staring at him. I hope no one noticed, but then again I'm just like every other girl at this party who can't stop staring at him.

I look around for my friends, only finding Emerson chatting it up with a boy I have never seen before across the room. His t-shirt has a Duke logo on it. By the looks of him, I'd say he's a college student. She seems to be passionately yelling at him, probably in a deep conversation about whatever she read in the paper earlier today.

When the beat to Crazy In Love by Beyoncé starts blasting, I decide to move out of the living room to find Braden.

The halls are crowded, stacked person to person. I have to squeeze my way through until I finally stumble out the door, meeting the outside area. The backyard is almost as large as the house, lit up similarly to the front. Christmas lights are strewn in the trees, illuminating the area.

I see a group sitting in a circle around a fire pit and, sure enough, hear Braden's loud laugh booming from the group. He's sitting crossed-legged and clutching his stomach with his hands. When he sees me, he summons me over to sit next to him, which I do.

"We're playing six degrees of Kevin Bacon," Braden informs in a slight slur as I take a look around the circle of people. "It's Meryl Streep to Logan Lerman."

Just as my eyes meet with his, Kyle looks away and takes a sip of his drink. "That's easy."

"Is it really?" A girl, I think her name is Willow, challenges Kyle.

"It is," Kyle answers simply. "Logan is in Meet Bill with Jessia Alba and Jessica Alba is in Valentine's Day with Julia Roberts and Julia Roberts is in August: Osage County with Meryl Streep."
